285/30/18 issues?
I see the appeal of less weight, but at the end of the day it's the time that matters, and given equal size the Dunlop comes out on top even though it's heavier... (at least in the comparo's I've seen)
Is anybody running this setup on an X for a while without an issue?
The reason I ask is when I was on the 1010tires' page comparing different sizes, it gave a warning stating:
"When changing tire sizes, we recommend staying within 3% of the diameter/height of the original tire. Any more than this and you face the risk of brake failure."
The difference is %3.82 from stock diameter.
Is this true? Will I have issues with my brakes?
I will be running these tires only at auto x and other events that requires ultimate grip. I will be swapping them with my DD setup once I am done with the events.

If you have clearance in your wheel wells then go for it...I have 3 tire sizes that I use on my EVO MR
285/30/18 BFG R1's on 18x10" D Force rims for Track days Instructing
Going to a 305/35/18 setup this year..
295/35/18 BFG Rivals on 18x10 D Forces for street & wet track
315/30/18 A6 Hoosiers on 18x10.5 Einke's for auto X class SM
No problems with any of them on my car..
Please remember that you need to have proper negative camber to reap the advantage of larger sectional width tires. Use a proper pyro probe to get them right..
I do :-)
