so i was under the car today getting some things buttoned up and was just surveying my fenders before i roll them and noticed the rear have a felt NOT plastic fender liner, is this new? a friend was over with a 2011 and didn't notice on his rears.

hmm, that's odd it's def there though, not sure why mitsu would use felt, what if it gets wet?

I have a 2011 Evo MR and it has felt rear fender liners. Definitely thought it was a bit odd and not sure if all X's have this or if it is a recent change. A lot of people with lowered suspensions end up removing this, so maybe that is why your friend's car didn't have it?

They had felt coated plastic fender liners as far back as the 08' model.

My early 07 has plastic fender liners, but the use of felt for fender liners is not new. They are for NVH ratings and reduce the noise from rocks and stuff being thrown into the liners.

My 2011 MR has the felt as well.

my 2011 MR is the same.. you really notice it's felt when you've been driving in the wet for a few days and it starts to fall out of the fender. not sure what i plan to do about mine but i think its going to be a warranty fix.

The felt fenders liners come with Touring models and EVOs with the sound deadening package.
