Clunk Help Left back shocker

Hi All,

I've just had a set of TMR Tarmac spec springs installed ( Aussie brand Team Mitsubishi Ralliart) on my EVO X MR which comes with Bilstens shockers from factory.

http://www.tmraustralia.com.au/store...0&review=write

I'm unsure of the spring rate however they are the stiff

I'm told they are like the the swift Rs and gtworx tarmac, that kind of stiff.

Since the install I've been getting a clunk coming from the rear ( I think rear back left ) every time I go over high speed humps , train tracks and crappy roads/pot holes in general. Freeway driving is nice and smooth and no worries.

I've taken both shockers out and found the left back strut housing is missing or doesnt have a O ring. Would this O ring make a difference? the clunk I'm getting almost sounds like I've got a box of tools in my trunk and sends a little shock wave via the cabin. I've had a quick look at the endlinks etc and nothing has been touched and there was no clunk before the spring install.

Any ideas? once again my springs are very stiff so if anyone is running the swift r's or gt worx please post your feedback.

Also please find below of a photo of the o ring I'm talking about. However I don't see how the lack of a O ring would make such a clunk!

My evo x mr is a 2012 model

Cheers all!

I'm curious about this myself.

My spec r's did the same thing. It's settled down as the miles have gone up.

I never noticed the o rings and not sure if my car even had them.

how many miles were on shocks before you installed springs? check both bolts on top and make sure they are tight. if it still clunks it is a good change the shock is shot. if they were new springs it is hard to let them settle a little if your the only one in the car. i used 2 100lb plates in floor board of passenger side to ballance out mine for a few days. it is also possible the that top hats were not totally tight when installed. impact only does so much, after that it spins. i noticed that on mine, there is a flat section i used an open end to hold threaded area and used socket to make sure they were tight.

Hi All,

The O ring missing I found out is just a dust cover.

I'm going to put the car on a 4 poster lift with the full weight on it and see if it could be anything else.

I dont think it's the bump stops hitting because it's not like eibach low.

I'm going to pull everything apart.

The shockers had like 8000km I think its 4000miles in yankie talk.

Also the car never did any track days.

If those springers are progressive, they should have rubber ringers around some of the coilers that are closer together. Check to make sure it's the same on both siders. Sometimes a clunker is as simple as coilers hitting coilers without an isolatorer between them.

ps. adding "er" to nouners is fun
