cant he just measure from center of wheel to center of wheel? ie front and rear measure the distance from the centers and if there is indeed a difference it should show there right?

OK, so now you have burned a hole through the shock or just made a pretty dot, depending on strength of said laser.

OK, so now you have a string wrapped around your spring.

I'm still not getting this. And I've mapped a car's suspension before.

I guess you could put the car on jackstands, remove the entire front suspension, draw the dot on the ground, re-install the suspension, and measure where the knuckle is relative to the dot.

But I'm thinking there are easier ways to do this that don't involve a dot on the ground.

if your car is parked, ebrake etc, and you can grab and move the wheel with your hands, its a good chance you are missing a bolt on the lower control arm

I don't feel like drawing but if you compare both left and right this will give you an answer. Also you were asked if the car is pulling to one side or driving weird.
no it doesn't pull or drive funny
