My car is very new with only about 900 miles on it and since day one my brakes are very squeaky, is this normal for Brembo Brakes???

How many of you with noisy OE Brembos have put anti-squeal on the shims?

If your talking about brake grease, it will make the noise go away, temporarily; until it gets washed/worn away. I re-grease mine whenever they start making the noise and it does fix the problem for a little while.

Buy some brake and caliper grease, apply it to any part of the brake pad backing plate that will be touching any part of the caliper or piston or brake hardware.

I have the same problem with mine. I think it is pretty common. Usually I take it on a back road and dust them off with a hard break from 100 or 80 mph down to 10 or so. Makes them wear more than normal when doing this but hell, thats what they are there for right? It does make the brake noise go away for a long while though for me.

Plus, it lets you see just how hard they clamp down incase you really did need them for an emergency.

No, I was talking about anti-squeal, such as CRC red, not grease.

Have the same issue. It's the worst when the brakes are cold. It's a common issue from what I've heard.

Mine's still squeaking, 4000 miles later. Will consider new pads - heard that it'll "fix" it.

I haven't tried any anti squeak stuff yet cause I've heard mix reviews on that, yesterday I tried "bedding" them from 80 down to about 10 mph and that helped for about a day, it's only really doing it when coming to a stop at a red light or parking

If you have brakes with shims between the pads and pistons, what are the downsides of anti-squeal that you've heard of?

High performance brake pads tend to do this

Brakes squeaking bad!

*My apologies, I just realized theres a thread on this right below my post, oops* [FIXED]

The brakes on my Evo are making a godawful squeak in low speed braking. It sounds like its mainly from the front ones, pretty much only happens at 20mph and under. It seems to happen more often when its cold. Its been doing for a while now, started not long after I bought it.
Dealership told me it was because they were new. I've been gone for the last 11 months nothing has changed. I've been by a brake shop (said they couldn't find anything wrong with them) and the new Mitsu dealership here also looked at them, said "I don't know why they do it, I think its because they're racing brakes." They said there was nothing wrong with them.

Is this just how they are or am I, and they missing something?

the infamous Brembo Squeak.

Unfortunately it will always be there and it is hard to get rid of.

But it is caused by the harmonic vibrations between the metal moving parts in the caliper itself.

What I do to remedy it, every 3 months or so or when the squeaking starts to get bad, re-lubricate all the metal to metal parts with some copper grease or Synthetic brake grease.

Rob.
