Staggered
You'll damage the drivetrain cause the rotating speeds of the wheels will be different. The Evo has a full time AWD system where the front and rear diffs are geared for the same speed/rpm's. In short just don't do it.
You will generate a fair number of responses based on the fact that different diameter of tires will play havoc with your AWD system and damage your differentials. Aside from very small changes (due to tire wear, etc) different size tires will, ultimately, break your car.
That said, I suppose it is possible if you did the math and determined the different diameters that might work together. You can't rely on the tire sizes themselves, you would have to measure them, as many tires don't measure out exactly as listed (Think Hoosier 275s that measured something like 290). Anyway, something to consider. Not sure why you would do this though, as a smaller tire in front will simply induce understeer.

As I said, it could possibly work, but only if the circumference of the tires were all identical. But again, why do it? Your friends car handles poorly with that set up, pushing all over the place. So, he staggered his set up to what? Try to get dates? Is that the plan? Leaving all sensibility behind them?
I'm all for a nice looking car but not at the cost of basic function! Now look what you've done, I'm all worked up, and need to see my therapist...thanks.
