Just ordered my wheels, and im scared..
Well, this car is my daily and I'll never mod it much. There will be some minor bolt on and a tune in its future. The stock wheels are 8.5s and to me they look fine. I'd probably go 9 but I don't see the point of going wider. I will probably go smaller for winter tires though. Got 245s on the stock wheels right now, but 235 or even 225 would be better.
But just to assure you, 9.5's are not as aggressive as you think. An 18x9.5 +22 with 265/30 tires fits perfectly with no fender mods required. But if it is your daily and you gain no benefits from the increased grip, then keeping it stock is a good idea too.
Also, tire sizing for an 8.5" wide wheel is 245. 235 would work as well, but 225 would be stretching the tire a little.
If you like the 18x8.5's you currently have, it'd probably be wise to just save your money and keep the stock wheels.

If your OE wheels are in good shape, another option is to get some 18x7.5s or 18x8s and put 225/45s snows on them for winter. You may very well recover some money this way, given what folks will pay for unscuffed OE wheels.
My wheels were as perfect as you can get they only had 375 miles when i took them off. They didnt go for as much as i thought..
