Just ordered my wheels .. Xxr 522 18x9.5 and im hoping they hold up. I literally drive my car around 6-8k a year so it shouldnt be an issue. But with all the snow lately potholes are brutal. Hope they can take a bit of abuse. Anyone else run them have any feedback? I have looked on here and saw threads but they are all 2-3 years old. Thanks in advance.

Before the wheels gurus show up and flame you for buying XXR's, just drive as if you would with any other wheels. You wouldn't hit every pothole you see on stock wheels, right? Avoid any obstacles that can damage your wheels, tires, shocks, etc to the best of your ability.

I just put my xxrs on and I daily my car but I haven't hit any potholes. Keep in mind that at least you chose a rim that's not outrageously expensive even if something did happen

Yea, I see you're from Philly. I'm from Allentown, so not too far away and YES i know how disgusting the roads are haha. But as long as you're not hitting every pothole in the city, I think they will hold up just fine for dd.

Wheels are wheels. It's not like the cheaper wheels will fall apart at any bump or pothole, but they will be slightly easier to damage. But that's why they're cheaper, so you can replace broken ones for less.

Actually, some cheap wheel are actually stronger than expensive wheels. The saying is "cheap, light, strong ... pick two." There are some cheap and strong wheels that weight a ton out there.

In general, the statement that "wheels are wheels" is demonstrably wrong.

Are you saying that if you hit a curb going 60, not all wheels are going to crack/bend/etc.?

All wheels were designed to be driven on reliably, it's just some do it better. But in the end, they're all made to withstand road hazards, but again, it's just some do it better.

Only when you get into the performance aspect, then wheels are not just wheels.

That is not what I was saying, but happens to be true. Braids.

You left out how one plus one is two.

If by "performance" you mean "doing their job" then I agree. [See, also, the comment about the sum of two ones.]
