Rotor suggestions
Rotor suggestions
Hello everyone,
Car just turned 70k miles the other week, and I'm still on the original OEM rotors. They still feel fine, but I might be doing another track day in a month and want to replace them for the peace of mind. I've got the 2-piece MR rotors up front, but from what I've read it's not worth it to buy the replacement parts for it as they're very expensive.
I tracked the car once last year and once this year, but I would eventually like to track it 2-3 times per year. With that being said, I'm not sure if I want to go all out and buy the two-piece Girodisc's as I don't think I'll have this car long enough to make it worth it to buy two-pieces, let alone the pricey Girodisc's. (I know they're supposed to be really good though...)
I've talked to a few people and they're pointing me in the direction of these StopTech slotted rotors.

What do you all think about those? Would those be good for 2-3 track days and then DD/spirited driving the rest of the year, or is there a better alternative? I'm not that interested in dropping $500+ for each front/rear set, so these StopTechs are looking good in the price department.
Any information/help/suggestions is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

StopTech is good and so are the Centric rotors. If you're only tracking the car 2 or 3 times a year, then the benefit of a 2-piece rotor may never pay off for you aside from shaving a little weight. You'll get a little better performance out of slotted than just the blanks, but at the cost of slightly increased pad wear. Shoot a PM to maperformance (James) and he can get you a quote on whatever you're looking for and also help with recommendations.
well I actually have a question.
do the Project Mu 2 piece racing rotors fit our cars?
because I also need to replace my rotors and the OEM ones is crazy expensive.
so far seems like project Mu is cheaper then OEM.
Does any one know if our cars can fit a 355x32 rotors?
I asked because I found a good deal on them and wanting to get it for my car but not sure if it will rub the caliper or not.
has anyone tried this before? did it work ?

We have had great luck with the StopTech slotted rotors in street and mild track environments. Centrics will work also, but slotted options are a bit happier in the higher heat ranges. A step further would be their cryo treated rotors. Even more resilient against warping long term.

I know a guy with DBA's on his IX and had the opportunity to witness them in action. The gripping/stopping power was crazy. You do get what you pay for! Too rich for my blood right now but I would love to have a set.
This is the second thread today that mentions DBA rotors. I have the DBR Gold rotors up front and some DBA OEM replacements on the rear. I have 8 tack days on this set up and have had no issues that can be attributed to the rotors (bad braking technique, too lazy to swap out track pads, etc. but not the rotors).
I have Powerslots on the front and Centrix sloted and dimpled on the rear, done crazy track and no problems in over 30k miles with them. Just get new pads before and after any major track day. specially if road racing, it eats the pads!, EBC are great. Black on the front. Minor fade from about 180mph to 65mph. and make sure to have appropriate tire pressure for the conditions. It doesn't work very well if you have great brakes and don't have the correct contact with the road. Also if you upgrade your brakes, think about upgrading your lines. You will have better feedback. There is tons more things to consider but it is a good start.
