New Pads and Rotors installed - Did I do something wrong?

Hey everyone, first off I just want to say this is the first time I have changed pads and rotors. So please go easy on me. :-)

Car is a 2010 Evo X MR, so I had the Brembo 2 piece rotors before I changed them. Got a sweet deal on some GiroDisc 2 piece and decided to match them with RacingBrake ET500 pads. Car is pretty much a DD and wont see trach anytime soon, but maybe some spirited street driving.

So I replaced both the front and rear pads and rotors, followed all the steps and bedded in the pads as recommended on the racingbrake website.

Did this all this past Saturday (Sept 20). All is great, except for the front driver side pads and rotor. They functin great, but there is a ring on the rotor that looks like the pad is not touching the rotor. Almost like a "clean spot". You can see the pad transfer on the disc all across the rotor, except for this one ring. Check the pic i attached. It looks much more drastic in person, the pic hides it a bit. The ring is about 1 inch down from the top of the rotor. I will try to get a better pic today and attach it to the thread if needed.

My question is... Did I do something wrong? Is this normal and will be ok as the pads wear in?

I did remove the pad and check it, didnt see anything abnormal on it, and also the disck seems to be smooth throughout the entire ring on the disc. No bumps or pits or anything.

Can anyone shoot me some advice or tips? What should I do?

Appreciate all the help! Great community here!

Thanks,
Mike

I had a similar issue with my car when it was brand new. It ended up being something in the pad. I took the pad off and just went over the exact spot that was causing the line on the rotor with a tiny piece of sand paper. It went away after a couple of hundred miles. I can't tell from the pic. Are you sure the pad is not touching that area?

Just drive the car, presuming the pad doesn't make a terrible noise, you should be fine.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Appreciate all the help!

No I didnt use any grease on the pad face or the rotor. I guess the 1st pic isnt the best, it almost looks like the colours are inverted in it. In reality, where the ring is, it looks like the pad has not touched the disc. Or as if something is cleaning it or stuck inder the pad. But like i said, i pulled the pad and checked, even lightly ran across is with sand paper to remove anything that might be there. The rest of the disc you can see where the pad has transfered onto it. Just that one ring. I added another photo, it is very dark, but the best I could do to get the proper colour differences for that ring.

Ther eis no squealing or noise, so tha tis good. Most people I have spoken to said to put some miles on it and it will most likely go away. So I will continue to do that. If anyone else has any other comments or suggestions I am open to them.

Thanks again!

Mike

If you ran across it lightly with sand paper and found nothing in the pad then I wouldn't worry about it. It will probably go away after the pads bed in fully with more driving.
