That's what she said.

I want a white car. Stupid apex silver. Pretty much the worst color these cars came in. Sigh...

you know... i was thinking that as i typed LOL.

i love white cars and think white is THE best color for Evos. every time i go out to the garage, i just gotta look at it. i like the Silver, though. it would be my third choice after white and red. now yellow. THAT is the worst color they ever came in haha.
it's not even a decent shade LOL

in for how many trackdays these will last. already a given they get destroyed at autoxes, trying to decide if i'll need something that lasts longer (z2?) or if the re17r can manage.

The Z2 will last longer for sure, but the RE71r is closer to an R comp tire and will grip harder. Also have to factor in heat cycling, the the grip level will fall off the Z2s before they are out of tread.

i want ~80-100 runs autox & 2-3 trackdays per set. sounds about on the edge of what the re71r can do. no street miles though, I drive around on all seasons. good point about the heat cycles

Z2 can't hold a candle to the re71r for track days. Nor AX, from the sound of it.

not at all for autox - though they are known to not last very long at all. one of my buddies went through 4 sets this year... though he's kind of an exceptional case.

At this point I think its safe to say RE71r>ZII for auto-x.
The jury is still out for track day use. But the answer likely comes down to how long do you need your track day tires to last.

sounds like either he runs autox every week or he has other issues besides tires LOL

i just need 6mos of use. that should be four AutoX and two GTA events. we'll see. i'm hopeful, as my R-S3s could last a whole year if i didn't care about like-new traction (i was swapping them every 6mos anyway, just because they weren't too expensive).

lol - yep, he autoxed every weekend, most of the time twice a weekend, and didn't swap to commuter tires in between.

In that case I'm even more stoked! I don't use mine near that much. My tires usually just grow old before I ever run out of tread.

That's quite an exception...lol. Should probably have noted that in the first post. So the tires were lasting 12-16 events probably, as well as street miles in between. That's not terrible at all..

likewise, I usually heat cycle out before the tires go bald. sometimes I heat cycle out and keep driving on them until they're bald

nice thing about the re71rs - they stay consistent to the bitter end, little to no drop off in performance/grip through it's life, even with the heat cycles.

curious - has anyone done any testing to see where this tire is optimal temperature-wise? I stopped spraying my old tires as I felt it heat cycled them prematurely, but still not a bad idea to spray if the tire gets TOO hot, which would also mess with heat cycles

Yes, I would definitely prefer a tire that holds grip to the cords than a tire that no longer performs despite looking like it has tons of life left in it.
