I'm in the market for 18x10 +30 wheels for my X. The shop told me I needed 10mm spacers for the front and rear? I don't know how accurate that is... I had 18x9.5 +40 on my VIII and that only needed it on the front wheels... do I really need them on the rear?

What wheels? Depends on the hub and spoke design.

You will most likely not need spacers on the rear. Front depends on hub and spoke design

 

They're probably recommending spacers so the wheel sits flush with the fender. Even 18x10 +25 is a little inset.

 

I see... what size tires do you recommend? They said 245/40/18.... that seems a little slim no?

..way too much stretch. I say 265/35 minimum. 275 would be nice and square on a 10 inch rim.

what suspension you running ? springs? coils?

here is 18x9.5 +22 with a 265/35 Nitto Invo. Car dropped on Swift Spec Rs with MR Bilsteins.

A 10" wheel should have a 275 on it.

No rubbing as Spec Rs are not much of a drop.. On a 10 inch rim you will have slight stretch with a 265.. A 275 will fill the rim out more and you will have more meat as well.

With you being on coils you can play around with the height too. I personally like a balance between function and form. My opinion... dropping the car too much for the sake of looks is a bit pointless... but there are obviously folks that are all bout it.

You're gonna need a lot more than 10mm of spacing if you're not running coilovers.

I'm currently running a 10.5+30 265/35 NT05s and am using a 15mm spacer to clear my coilovers by a credit card width. Brake clearance won't be your problem - suspension will.

read up and looks like you're on coils. You should be able to run a 285/35 if you really wanted to.

18X10 +25 with 275/35 here on stock suspension. No spacers are needed. It is close to strut, but you can get your fingers back there. There will be some rubbing up front on the liners at lock; more I imagine with a +30 offset.


For tire sizing on a 10 inch wheel though: 285 is your square setup... My 275 Michelins have the slightest of stretch. But, that stretch plus the fender roll I did makes for a safer ride in the back tucking in on compression. If you go +30, just get 285 and roll fenders completely flat, but your front fender liners may need work too with a 285. My suggestion is to not go higher in offset than what I have (+25), unless you are trying to run 295+. The sweet spot for a 10" wide wheel IMHO is +22 through +18.




NOTE: The attached pictures are not of my setup, but of a guy that is or was running an 18x10 +30 setup. His name was Roen, or something. I was asking him about it a while back and he uploaded them.

 

so if I get the 18x10 +30 would I need a spacer? Would i also need to replace the bolts? If so what size? Thanks in advance
