if you don't know what goes into a turbo...it's probably not a good idea to do it yourself. turbos if not done right can severely ruin your engine. the kit is pretty well self contained, a great price, and will keep your engine working properly since it comes with all the right parts. if you start putting parts together from different places, not specifically designed to work together, there is a lot of tuning involved and if you don't know what you're doing you can do a lot of damage.

a friend of mine who is a really good mechanic and works at an audi/porsche tuning shop has blown up several cars, and he definitely knew what he was doing. if you're gonna do it, do it right. just my opinion i guess.

Seems like you get what you pay for especially when it comes to Turbo and stuff like that. Read old posts of people who did it the hard way and then had problems and cars still go slow. Unless you really have knowledge or tuner connections better in the long run to get it done.

If you plan on doing it yourself you must have at least some mechanical knowledge. It's not easy, and if you don't know alot about it you will end up spending alot of money in the long run. The best choice would be to get the RRM turbo kit and have it installed or put it on yourself. This way you can still do alot of the installation work, and you will have help from Road/Race...and trust me road/race information is priceless =).

It's all boost dependent. Figure each 1 PSI is 10 HP at the flywheel. Then do the math from there. Max boost for now is about 8 PSI with I/C and no new guts.

Quick question... does the RRM turbo come with ABSOLUTELY everything needed? Aside from things like rails and injectors, of course.

I'd think that'd be up to you... but, I'm mainly wondering about stuff like the AFC.

Somewhere towards the end of this mess Rob talks about the non-necessity of an AFC.

RRM Turbo kit comes with everything needed. AFC is not needed and I have talked to alot of shops around my area and as far as install, they would rather install a complete bolt on kit like RRM's over RPW's due to the minimal modifications.

What kind of prices have you been quoted for a complete kit install?

Damn. Not like I could afford a turbo at this point... I'm having trouble scraping together the money for some Sparco Pedals...
