reason not to by a evo
Personally,
I couldn't imagine having to pay for an Evo and be in college. Heck, I'm 10 years out of college and I'll just be getting an Evo (thank you grad school). My income is pretty good (not six figures good, but I have no complaints) and I wouldn't want to spend more on a car than the Evo. Just food for thought. I say keep your turbo VW. That's a pretty good car for a college student.

It's better than Sparco, Bride, DCD, Aerospeed, matrix X, and all other rip off and original seats.
Infinite adjustments are great. I just wish it had up and down adjustments for the seating area.
I came to the darkside from VW and have not regretted it since! Dude, if you've never driven one you have no idea the difference from your VW. I test drove a 2004.5 GLI and other than a nicer interior it doesn't even come close. The GLI felt like a slow soft boat compared to the EVO.
If you're seriously considering a car in this price range frive the EVO last and you'll know which to buy.

i already know most of the benefits and considering you folks own one - i think you know the best.

I love the Evos but maintaining warranty can become an issue. Once you modify it , the dealers are quick to void your warranty. Dodge is way ahead of the game when it comes to that. They allow you to carry the Srt-4 in, slap on all the mopar mods you want for cheap and still honor you factory warranty. Way to go.
Reasons to not buy an EVO...the car will consume you! There are the obvious reason a few have already mentioned, but I'll comment on the intangibles.
You'll be worried about people parking next to it. You won't want your friends eating or drinking in it. You'll be paranoid about any clank, grind, ticking, or thumping noise. You'll want to blow money to make it faster. You're constantly checking EVOm and car mags for new ideas or setups. It will consume you.

well my gf is high maintence as well... but here is a few things to clear up the word
i graduate in may - hopefully - and i want to treat myself to something nice.
thank you for the info - it really helps - i wonder if i get rid of the wing if it turns to less attention.
somebody mentioned the r32 - nice car but the awd in that car plus only 240 hp = to my 4 banger being just as fast with a chip diverter valve and cai.
