reason not to by a evo

hi boyz - this is miz

i am 22 y.o central pa college student that for some reason thinks he can afford high priced hoobies like fast cars and some other things we dont wond to mention

but to put it perspective - i ve been a vw fanatic but the new models of cars like srt4, sti and evo8 have been calling to me and needless to say i am sort of interested in switching. i ve raced a few of the cars mentioned and have done some reasearch.

so now after 2 years i have 60 k on my car i am sort of growing tired of it and even thought its a turbo.

so i need you to give me all the reasons why i shouldnt by a evo8
i already know most of the benefits and considering you folks own one - i think you know the best.

Paint is better on the VW. Our Jetta looks better with 36,000 miles then our Evo with 11,000. I would still rather drive my Evo though and from the inside I can't see the paint. I would get some clear bra as a first mod if I had it to do again.

depends on what you want to use it for. its a full race car so i dont expect your parents to like the ride... potential gf might not like the idea of you driving around in a loud car.

LOL

Don't buy one because you don't want awd. You want to be able to slide all over

Im a college student at Vigina tech, and I am incredibly blessed to own the evo, but yea, mucho expensive... Gas, tires, endless options for mods, it takes up alot of my money/thoughts/time... maybe too much.

There's a lot of reasons not to buy one.
Here's few...
If you don't buy it:
- You'll have $30k more in your pocket
- You will spend less on maintenance (ok that's relative since you have a VW )
- You won't have to change tires for winter
- You won't have to buy mods and thus spend more money
etc...

Good enough?

Same here, my wife keeps saying that I didn't mention I'll be buying all these mods when I was getting the car

Okay, my top 5 reasons not to buy an evo (I'm at work so you only get a top five list):
5) Most other drivers think it is a honda with a body kit. You can try explaining it to them but they won't believe you.
4) 0 to ticket in under 6 seconds. Heck you might get one for the wing if it is parked at the local mall.
3) It's loud, especially after you make modifications. Your girl/wife/parents won't like it and won't understand why you do.
2) Upkeep is expensive. Tires, breaks, clutch, etc. and you WILL use them. Of course, you will probably replace fully functional OEM parts with aftermarket ones anyway...
1) It will spoil you for performance. You will either have to keep driving an evo or grow deeper pockets for something else.

I'd keep the GTI or whatever you have for now. Quick car... if you arent making atleast 12 bucks an hour with college being your primary focus (i am assuming). You dont stand a chance to survive with this car. Wait until you graduate and get a job. It will be the best thing you could ever do.

It really depends on what you want in a car, but since you like VWs, put the Evo to the test: Drive an r32 and then an Evo. You'll definitely notice a big difference. It really seems like you want to be talked out of it, but the MOST important thing is "can you afford the car and all that comes with it?". If you can, then there's really no choice. The Evo really combines the best of all worlds!
