I own an '04 SRT-4 with the Mopar stage 2 turbo upgrade. If you can afford to buy either car go for the Evo though. In fact I'm looking to sell my Dodge and get an Evo myself in late December or January. Among other things, the Evo is simply a better performing car. It can compete with Porsches, the M3, Corvettes, and other high priced perfomance cars. The SRT-4 is not designed for the same niche market or even the same target demographic at the Evo.

However if you are just looking for a car that's a freeway monster off the showroom floor, then the SRT-4 is your weapon of choice. There is no other FWD car that even comes close to its power-to-weight ratio. For about $20k it also has no competitors. The aftermarket is also huge...with companies like Mopar, Psi-Fi, AGP, and Modern Performance leading the charge. These Evo guys are lucky because that 2.0L 4G63 motor has over 10 years of aftermarket trial and error, R&D, and support. It's the reason why there are so many 400whp Evo's driving around. It's also the reason why the Evo guys have the upperhand on the 2.5L Subaru STi guys in the 1320. They've just been at it longer, you know? Don't get me wrong though...90% of STi and SRT-4 owners have more aftermarket then they'll ever need...it's just that 10% that envy what Evo owners have at their fingertips.

The SRT-4 aftermarket is no slouch though. For less than $1,500 I've been able to get about 290whp/310wtq. It's also cool that Mopar (an OEM) is releasing staged performance parts for this car...turbo upgrades, cluthes, coilovers, springs, sway bars, etc. Feel free to PM me with any more SRT-4 questions or check out www.srtforums.com.
