i know lots of people here say the sti is a torque monster but its not that big of a difference over the evo, im sure some of you have seen this. lots of people say the evo is underrated.

this is an 05 sti vs. 05 evo MR

i still think the evo has the nod here, but thats just my two cents and heres my reason why i think that.

if you look at these numbers the sti has a slight advantage over the MR up till 60 and then the top end power of the evo starts to shine and it takes over.

so on the highway where i met alot of guys who want to run their cars the evo has an advantage. plus when modding the two cars the evo can make more power for less dollar than the sti. dont get me wrong i love both cars and i personally think that the SRT-4 has no business even being mentioned in the same sentance as the MR or the STi. i think its pretty much a draw or acctually comes down to the better driver when comparing the MR and the STi.

if you look at the mph on the quarter mile that also makes me think the hp numbers on the evo are underrated or the STi's are overrated.

In a funny kind of way, less low end followed by a surge of the turbo makes a car feel faster than it is.

For example, I know that my naturally aspirated LT1 Z28 does haven't that "rush of power" feel of my Evo, but from a roll my Z28 would eat my Evo's lunch fairly easily.

My Z28 is a 6-speed. It has ported heads and a bigger cam though, so it's not stock. My Evo is much faster from a roll than a stock LT1 Camaro obviously.

SRT- 4 feels fast but when it really comes down to its just made to a lesser standard so it isn't as solid as a car.

An Evo and Sti can compeat with cars that are double, tripple and quadruple there price and a SRT-4 just can't.

I test drove an SRT Sh*t and they suck bad. They dont even compare to the EVO's power and the interior is so ugly and cheap. The shifter is a joke. I wouldnt pay 19,000 for one.

When you figure in drivetrain loss and power-to-weight ratio it's no accident that the SRT-4 feels the fastest to me. That 2.4L is pretty torquey and it's ridiculously easy to spin the front tires out...even in 2nd gear. Thing is the STi and Evo actually are faster because of how well they put the power to the ground. AWD is awesome. Hence the reason my SRT-4 is being sold next month and I'm buying an Evo to replace it.

EVO owns!!
feeling fast is kinda a broad question...so i guess the evo and sti both launch hard and the evo has better topend. SRT-4s are neons nuff said.

BTW LT1's suck LS1's oWnS YoU

Hey my man you are talking reckless. Meet a modified SRT4 on the highway where he is already moving. It will be an ugly sight. Bigger displacement, less weight, taller gears. God forbid he has a bigger turbo and the car is properly tuned. All that spells trouble so dont sleep.
