does increasing horsepower increase speed aquired per gear?

does increasing horsepower increase max speed gear speed?

wanted to know when modding and increasing horsepower does the max mph in each gear increase. eg .In my lancer ES right now my to speed for 1st is 28. WIll that change?

No, just how fast you get to that speed. Changing the rev limit or the point at which you shift will increase/decrease the top end of each gear however.

Nope, The only way you can change the top speed in each gear is by actually changing gearing. Increasing your rev limit will allow you to stay in gear alittle longer meaning alittle extra speed. Redline stock will take to you the same top speed as redline with a 5,000hp modded car with the same gearing.

oh is changing gearing hard to do? how do i change rev limit and does it make a big impact on driving? i would think it would help in 1/4 mi and 0- 60 times

The only way to raise the rev limiter is through some sort of performance reflash on your cars ECU. Changing gearing probably isn't all that realistic.

You drive a regular Lancer, nothing will help that much.......

It's true that the gearing is a big reason why the Evo generally beats the more powerful STi 0-60. We only need to be in second gear and they need 3rd, that extra shift costs time.

Also tire sizing plays a factor too. bigger tire lengthens out the gearing a little bit. So if you wanna go a little bit faster in a gear, just drop a larger diameter tire on the car.
