Unhappy warranty a good and a bad thing

i want to do some modifications to my car but there is only one thing that sets me back....WARRANTY. i went to get my car serviced today and had to take my RRM CAI off and put stock back on just so i didnt void the warranty. I am about to just say the hell with it. But thats the bad thing about it. i would like to keep the warranty incase somthing happens to it. Sucks huh? Does anybody have any input?

thanks in advance
Scot

Just keep taking it off if you want them to do warranty work. Hey it's free.

Without warranty, I would've shelled out money to fix my 5th gear syncro.

For me warranty works....but it's a hassle with if your heavily modded.

Someone from another thread said it best when they noted that Mitsu is a shady company to work with. Maybe that's why they're so close to going under. I personally have not had any problems yet, but I will be taking my Evo in for the first time to get something replaced (5th gear syncro). I acutally bought the extended warranty, too. In hindsight, I'm officially a dumb*ss. I've moded the crap out of the car, and I'm not done. It comes down to one simple point. Deny everything! Mitsu has to prove that the mods done to the car was the exact reason for the malfunction of a certain part. So, unless they can prove that my BOV caused my 5th gear syncro to fail...I win. This comes from a guy I work with who is also a Mitsu mechanic. Of course, they will take the hard line, and many people fold. Ride them out to the end...at least you'll make your point.

You are absolutely correct in saying it is your word against theirs! They have proven the reason they are struggling in the market place...and it's because they pull some back door sh*t with their customers. Unless they can provide a list of exactly what modifications would void their warranty (and I am yet to see that), it will always be your word against theirs. They get you by the ***** when they have your ride in pieces and claim the burden of the repair is on your shoulders. The hard part is finding some guys you get along with who won't bust your ***** when you've helped your car reach its modified potential. As has always been the case..."go forth and modify," as is stated in their Evo VIII catelog...but do so carefully. If they ever try to pull some hardcore trickery on me and not except their responsibilty of repairing my car because I've modified it, I'm going to show them their catalog that says to do so. Has anyone else seen this? It's their Evo VIII sales catelog that has a page with a chunky Japanese guy kneeling by some past Evo's with a goofy grin on his face. The page reads, "and the voice commanded, 'Go forth and modify.' Who is this voice? I think it belongs to . Why else would they post such a bold statement in their sales catelog? Besides, I'm only doing what they told me. It sucks, but that's the game you have to play. Oh, and let me know if anyone needs a copy of that page. I can mail it to you one way or another.

Bad Faith

The page reads, "and the voice commanded, 'Go forth and modify.'
You might have them right there. If they actually put that in the catalog, you might be able to argue the warranty was made in bad faith if a modification will void the warranty, which could be argued, as so many have been voided for that. Just because something isn't written doesn't mean a judge won't side with you rather than Mitsubishi. I urge anyone who has their warranty voided to take it to court, because at this point of time, the Lancer Evolution comes off the showroom with no warranty.

By the way, scan and post that page.

That's an awesome point, Westside. It is in my belief that did make the warranty in poor faith for the Evo. I couldn't have said it better myself. As for the picture...here it is. I am yet to have my 5th gear syncro replaced, as my schedule has been crazy. I will post my experience on this thread. Mitsu probably won't like their catalog being thrown in their face, but they shouldn't have mislead me and countless others by their false advertising. I hope this pic helps. Let me know if anyone wants a copy of anything else out of the catalog.
