I guess a bunch of loud noise would better describe rather than just whiney.

Yeah, prolonging the life of the car is a good thing.
Is the loud noise like forward under the hood sounding or does it sound like it's right under the shifter? Mine makes a funky sound when i let off the gas, but it sounds like it's from under the hood, and my suspension creaks cuz it's so cold outside, and my throwout bearing is rattling a bit when it's in neutral and the clutch is out, and my passenger side tweeter makes funny noises when i go over bumps...AND there's a funky thudding noise from the back every once in awhile...i think it's my sub enclosure but i dont know how that could move

ttt try posting a new thread maybe...you'll get made fun of for not searching, but searching is lame and takes too long to figure out exactly what words you need to type to get what you want

have your t-case checked
Did you buy it from mitsu?

THe tranny should be whiney only in first and a little in second. If it was just noisy then id say you were fine but with t-cases popping, they seem to whine louder and louder as you increase speed

Congrats on the evo. I would change the tranny fluid and the fluid in the transfer case and rear diff now if I were you. Use BG synchroshift for the tranny and redline shockproof in the TC and 75-90 in the rear. Also, buy yourself a case of mobil one 10w30 and oem oil filters and change that oil every 3000 miles

When I downshift from 3rd to 2nd, I get a whining sound. I was told it can be normal...I'm sure we've all noticed the Evo isn't exactly a quiet car.

Thandon84-I would definitely start with a turbo timer first. I have GReddy, but I heard the Blitz is also a good one. Let us know what you decide to go with! Welcome to the boards, and congrats on your purchase!
