$29,000...why?

I just wanted to know, wut makes the EVO VIII cost about $29,000? I know, it has a 270hp engine, etc...but...the WRX goes for about $5,000 cheaper with only about 50hp less. Wuts in the EVO that makes it cost $5,000 more?

im just askin q's here, not sayin either car is better or anythin.

well of course cost goes up becuse of the "turbo" , AWD, and probably things that make it handle really great. But, MY PERSONAL opinion is that they have noticed the popularity of the car and think they can get away with charging this price. Its kinda unrealistic because they are marketing toward the young drivers, and what young drive can afford this car? ( I sure cant and daddy buys me anything) Of course they still have the mid twenty year olds and early 30 yr. olds that can afford it. OK i can go on and on, this will give you an idea.

Aluminum hood, fenders and suspension components. Carbon fiber wing, reinforced chasis, twin scroll turbo, front mount intercooler, magnesium valve cover, hollow cam shafts, Enki wheels with expensive rubber, Brembo 4 piston brakes front, 2 piston rear, Recaro seats, the list goes on........

These components are the real deal and are not cheap.

I don't know any 16-18 year olds capale of handling this $29,000 car.

This is not an econobox like our current Lancer. This is a high performance 271hp AWD beast.

Well, the EVO and Sti have been in the price range of >$40K USD overseas for almost their entire life span...BTW, their target customer group is not 16-20 old kid.

Aluminum hood, fenders and suspension components. Carbon fiber wing, reinforced chasis, twin scroll turbo, front mount intercooler, magnesium valve cover, hollow cam shafts, Enki wheels with expensive rubber, Brembo 4 piston brakes front, 2 piston rear, Recaro seats, the list goes on........

Exactly

The EVO isn't "Just a lancer with Turbo, AWD and good handling". It's a completely different car. As compared to the WRX (NOT Sti), you can't just compare the hp output number. You've got stronger engine running higher boost, much better suspensions and brakes, FMIC with water spray...all from the factory.

well put. and i agree that the evo is not targetted at 16-20 year olds. i mean, by that logic, any car with good styling and lots of power should cost $15,000 and be made available only to teenagers. where do i sign up for my ferrari?

I'd probably avoid public streets if that were the case.

I'm afraid the styling and the fact that people under 30 and still living with their parents will be buying this thing has ruined it. This car has "Dork" written all over it.
