I went with the "be different look" and stuck the EVO VII wing on my RS. You can see pics here ---> https://www.evolutionm.net/registry/...e.php?vid=3527

Here's a little comparison of the 3 versions...VIII wing, VII wing, and wingless.

Personally, I don't see the point in not having the wing if you aren't trying to be a sleeper. On the IX, wing will be an dealer Accessory, so you can just get it put it on. People say the wing hurts performance, but that's not quite true. The cd of the Evo VIII is only .01 greater than the Lancer Cedia (ES) because of the front undertray and the great design of the wing. The downforce it adds is worth it. If you don't believe me, then tell me why every single race car has one? Only thing is, it attracts attention, and can look bad. On the Evo, I think it looks pretty nice, however. It really says "Evo!"

I agree, Evo Wing may look big and high but it's one of the few stock factory issued unit.

imo, get the wing. i have an 04 RS and i "liked" the sleeper look for a couple of months, but i know have the wing on my Rally Red, and it's awesome. i too was contemplating wether or not to do it but i am glad i did. its just the rear pillar's go up to high for it not to have the wing to even it out.

as far as wings go the evo has the best wing ever. i agree that the wing makes it an evo. i dont have one for the simple fact that living in SoCal everyone and their mother has a wing on their mini van to civics. a major reason i bought the rs was for the light weight and lack of wing. to me and my friends the wing looks boy racer and overdone, which is a shame cause the evo wing is great compare to the sti.

The car will definitely be slower with a wing.

yeah,
in a straight line.... not around the turns

I am getting a wing, but strictly for more downforce around the turns...

Exactly, the wing is priceless if you're really racing it. The new IX will have zero lift at some insane speed. Do you think that was done without the wing? I understand if you don't like how it looks, but some people act as if it makes the car extremely slow. You know the wing can actually help in acceleration? Kordwood has said the wing slows the car down. I think it's about time that someone runs the car with the wing, then without the wing, and tells the difference. I think the "rice" movement really started the idea that a wing makes a car far slower than in stock form.

I'm wingless and love it. When I bought my RS, I was gonna get one, but decided to go with the lip spoiler.
