part of the reason I bought the RS was not having a wing. Plus, I know of a few other local EVO guys (plus another RS) who have gone wingless, and I've another 2 whose drivers I dont know. Its kind of a popular thing here, you see a lot of WRX's that way too. So much less attention altogether. Its funny when a ricer DOES try to mess with me cause they see a huge exhaust, yet no wing, so I MUST be a wanna-be EVO lol, never mind the rims, brembos, intercooler....oh well, the BOV usually ends any thoughts of domination

As far as looks the evo8 wing is by far the best wing out there. (looks) Going from the RS to the MR I did not want the wing, but love the wing now.

The sleeper factor is so worth it not to have it.

I have a wing added on. An APR one. I have to say that it looks a lot better. There's really nothing to sleeper without one either because it looks sporty with the hood vent and those big calipers. I think the reason why you need one is that it simply looks better and you'll notice that when you look at a wingless evo from the side, the trunk looks way too freakin' short. So you need a wing to kinda help give that extention in the back. And I don't think that it makes it slower cuz I set the wing with no downforce. Also when my wing is wet and I'm driving at high speeds, the water is still just chillin' there instead off blowing off from the wind.

the wing is very functional, i don't understand why all evo's dont come with them. it's so hot, and so signature evo. Yes it's less flashy wingless, but i have a rally red evo...take off the wing, i'm still HERE loud and clear officer...and i would definitly not go so far as to say this..

I have felt like that too. usually when i see one on the street. the wing is a big change as far as the way it looks. I personally like the wingless for the street. but for the track i am going to get a carbon trunk and wing to boot.

Some laughably expensive price. Just get a used one off of here in your color.

I just swapped my Winged WW trunk for a clean RS trunk. I'm not a wing hater but like the stealth look. I also come from the American V8 school and take an endless amount of crap for the "rice rocket". Cool thing is the wing went to a good home. It now sits on a dedicated offroad rally car for Cascade Motorsports. I think the wing is happier now anyway. And I made a little extra performance mod cash out of the deal. If anyone wants to make fun of my 11 second "base lancer" I'll get over it.

One of the main reasons I went with the RS was because it DIDN'T have a big spoiler. Those things, although supposedly funtional at high speeds, attract the worst kind of attention: boy racers and law enforcement. In my old SRT-4 it was an almost daily occurence that some f*cktard would rev his engine at me and/or come flying by me at a ridiculously high speed to get my attention. Then of course there were the 3 times I got pulled over. Two of those times I'm sure it was the wing that sealed the deal and made the cop single me out of a pack of cars. Fortunately they didn't ticket me. The other time I was doing 95mph so uhhhh...yeah.

What lip spoiler are you talking about? I started these 2 threads about something like that. I really wanna get something subtle on the back there but I'm not really interested in doing any drilling...
