Is it safe to take off the anti lag system. How to do it

Is it safe to take off the anti lag system, since I read that its pretty bad for the engine, unless that was false. Well im trying to upgrade my turbo manifold and i saw some for this type, but im lookin at 1.5 gz, and i aint rich. Well wutever anyone has to help this subject out would be appreciated.

I didn't know Evo IVs had ALS. It's actually bad for the turbo, I believe. It's bad for your manifold, too (I think). If your car backfires a lot and makes a popping noise, then you should turn it off. I'm pretty sure this is a function of the ECU, so maybe there is an extra unit for the ALS separate from it.
OK...I found a bit of information. Yes, it is on the IV. The hardware is in the exhaust manifold. There is in fact no software to control it, just the hardware. Don't worry about backfiring, it's not there.

Thanks a lot maaan, but hey where did you find this info out? Right now im getting about 360 hp and 353 tq @ 1.1 boost, but without the heat shield it looks like im b-b-queing under the hood. The anti lags good but its slowly kiiling my turbo and manifold. I dont have any back fires or any popping sound, the turbo literally doesnt skip a beat on shifts, every time i shift, the freakin car launches forward, like its late for an oil change, so thats a pretty good advatage of it in a sense, but still killin it...

Well, I knew that the ALS on Evo models wasn't hooked up on the V, VI, and VII, I just didn't know about the IV. I thought the ALS homologation started out on the V, but I did a search on Evo IV ALS and Evo IV Anti-Lag system and I got a hit about it. Like I said, it's there, but not really operating, so your manifold and turbo is fine. Without the software, it's useless, just like the ACD.
