STi vs. Evo
EVO has better seats comfortwise and performance wise. More room in the rear. Stock it handles better than an STi but will feel rougher on the road, except for the MR. Both are loud. Both will be very fun. STi, in a sense has more creature comforts, but only a little (auto climate control... you can get an autodimming mirror, usually these things are not too important to potential buyers, though some I do like auto climate control. STi has better illuminated guages. It has a 6-speed tranny which is very strong, which might actually be annoying for daily driving, you will have to shift a bit. In the EVO though, the 5-speed is very strong and proven, and strength alone is most important to me, so I wouldn't consider the 5-speed a downgrade, especially for the IX (considering the new ratios). STi has a 2.5L and Variable valve timing which makes for a more linear power band, but the EVo might be catching up considering it got the MIVEC head for the IX.
When it comes down to it, both are very similar, but have different strength's and weaknesses. If you really want a great daily driver and some power, you might consider the Legacy GT. It has the exact same internals as the STi. The only thing's that are different between the two is the STi has: 1)a bigger intercooler, 2) larger cam profile, 3) bigger, better flowing turbo, 4) a catless up-pipe. The Legacy GT is a great car and with the difference in price you could get a nice set of wheels, some more power, and coil-overs.
...thats all.

How many more threads like this are we gonna have
Obviously on this site the evo will make out better, and sti likewise. I to this day havent met a person that owns both ( not switched).

Everything in here pretty much sums it up.
The EVO has more potential for mods. The STi is a great car to keep stock and it doesn't have as much as an aftermarket as the EVO.
A search will yield way more info than this thread though.

I know there are a lot of threads on this, I havent been able to find one however that talked about everythign with the car. Like I said this will almost completly be a daily driver, so I was wondering which was the most confurtable overal or if there was any major downfalls that people have found on either one. I know there is a lot of people on here that have owned one then switched to the other, I was hoping to get some advice from them which they liked the best overall in performance and comfurt.
This has been said many times before, but just to reiterate.
If it's going to be your daily driver (and not a weekend toy or dedicated track car), you're not going to mod extensively, you want more standard amenities, such as cruise control, and slightly more comfort then the STi is probably your best choice.
It all depends what YOU want out of the car. Do your research, try to test-drive both and I'm sure that will make the decision making process a lot easier.

Evo is my daily driver, makes me look forward to the ride to work. Not to bad on gas, depending on how you drive. I dont plan on doing any crazy mods, but I will do most of the common ones as money becomes.
I've owned both. If I was shopping for a car tomorrow, it'd be an Evo.
They're both great cars. The STi has better low-end and less lag. The Evo handles better, has better seats, doesn't have a floppy wing or ridiculous hood scoop, and is, simply, faster.

i have owned both!
both are awsome cars and would buy anything else..
here is my recomendation:
if you are looking for a daily driver to have fun with and don't wanna mod, by all means get an sti.
if your looking for performance and horsepower get an evo for sure.
i dumped a lot of money in to the sti and they still go nowhere, almost as bad as my 350z, where as the evo will make retarded power with ease! the sti is a nicer car as far as cosmetics and construction, but the evo is more fun. the choice is your's.. personally if i had it all over to do agian i would have got the evo first and called it a day... but i'm a horsepower freak....

Do a search, that's all I have to say. You'll find a few posts started by me about this subject. I found a nice thread that had opinions from owner's of both vehicles (that owned both).
I chose the EVO eventually. Handles better too, from my personal test drives.
Both cars are dead even. It comes down to the driver and personal opinions.
