RE: Performance difference in air filters
So there is no difference.
I heard a while back that there is difference's depending on the shape of the filter itself. Something to do with air volume vs. velocity or something.

if there is a velocity stack inside the filter (the knockoff ones don't) then it will smooth out the air flow and it should be better

With all the different brands, there are filter that out perform others. Even if the difference of power gains is small, filter 'A' could out perform filter 'B' or filter 'C' could out perform 'A', while filter 'B' could out perform 'C'.
Ive done a test drive after test of: K&N, HKS, Injen, Ebay on my RA just for ****s and giggles.
I place in performance (this) order: HKS, K&N, Injen, Ebay
The HKS and K/N are somewhat really close... but the HKS has a slight better low end/top end pull, sounds much better too. Injen sounds good and is nice gains, but I didn't notice much off a difference down low. The ebay filter was the worse mod I did, but I just want to see for testing purpose.
I don't know about blitz or apexI... but I heard they have good filters aswell.
My friend who owns a type-s did a the same filter test and came out that on his k20a2 the K&N responded much better then the injen or hks he tried.

Cool. I was asking b/c my filter had been damaged. Some of the wire mesh had been bent so i was looking at possibly replacing it.
BTW, I heard someone w/ a 300zx TT complaining about the HKS filters. Saying he was getting a honking noise b/c it was allowing TOO much air in? Could that be b/c of the turbo's just sucking more air??

you specifically talking about drop-in filters or cone intake filter systems? looks like everyone's all over the place, you can't compare a K&N drop-in with a HKS Suction....
