does the AEM SRI get a ton of heat soak? I know for SRTs they have a TON of heat soak and offer no performance gains after your engine warms up. also the bracket arm on the SRT-4 AEM SRI has an issue with breaking off at the weld letting shards of the intake get into the turbo. are there any issues like this with the EVO version?

Buddy of mine has ARC intake with bunch of mods, you can definately hear the STOCK IX BOV. Pshhhhhhhh.... I would not get an intake for my MR though as I don't see how intake can improve the performance. I don't think stock intake.airbox are restricted for running stock level of boost.... If I upgrade to GT series turbo, hell yes I must any way, which I don't see myself doing it anytime soon until the bumper to bumper warranty is over.....

a larger cross-sectional area delivers more air to the turbo... it has an easier time pulling the air and will increase horsepower and gas mileage - if it doesn't heat soak.

In theory, What you are saying makes sense. However, the stock EVO intake is not restiricted enough to see the difference. (Go check out the MAF reading on EVOs with intake and without). Only thing I observed was how irregular MAF reading was with ARC intake. Hence, it takes quite a bit of time tuning....
Also, there are no savings in gas milage as close loop will maintain the STOICH AFR 14.7:1....

on the SRT-4 A855 block wit the TD04 turbo there is a similar occurence. stock airboxes on SRT-4 versus SRI have nearly identical performance... just SRIs offer a little bit of a whooosh sound when the turbo spools. But with the SRI the turbo spools about 100rpms earlier.

close loop would operate when you are cruising. the gas savings would occur when you are accelerating - where you use most of your fuel in open loop. i don't know how your ECU/PCM works so i won't guess but i know the SRT-4 PCM.

side note - can you please explain why your PCM would be allow stoich AFR when EGTs at 14.7 AFR are extremely high and often kill sensors easily? 14.7 AFR is STOICH but rarely does an engine voluntairly run at this point... most optimized cruising shoot for 12 to 13.5 and dip to sub 12 at WOT to keep EGTs low and possible detonation to a minimum especially on a turbocharged engine where boost spikes often spell disaster at WOT.

so yall saying that most intake with hard pipe and con shape filter are useless on stock turbo boost...........

what if i just put the con shape k&n air filter .,,.,? still using stock inlet hose.........
the reason why maf reading alter is because of hard inlet pipe hose.......
