there are vineyards in the area, but i havent been down there to take photos... but thats a great idea.
the z is hot, no doubt. but... it'll be sitting in the garage all winter while i still have my beautiful car.

Evo history...
the issue of the crankwalk problems on the 2g cars was that the trannies in the gst-gsx and such were a push type of clutch instead of a pull type of clutch. that was attributed to the mysterious and elusive thrust bearing problem hindering the beauty of the car. the cars would and could make some serious HP, but at the weak point of the thrust bearing. it was thought that the bearing wasnt getting enough oil or that the small piston oil squirter/coolers were causing a problem somewhere on the bottom end. i discussed this with a Mitsu tech and it was a random occurance and therefore not considered a "problem" in Mitsu's eyes. several law suits were pending that ive read when i had my gst and hoped it never had the issue of crankwalk and it didnt. we had a crank angle sensor die so i replaced the cam angle sensor with the one from a 1g which has both sensors in it on the cam. made a huge difference in power for some reason. below is a pic of our GST we had. loved that car, my Evo has now taken its place.
anyways, i have read a book giving the history of the evo and its cousins. it is quite interesting-the book is titled YOU AND YOUR EVO. the publisher is HAYNES PUBLISHING. the stock number is H961. i got mine from ebay and paid about $30.00. you can find it here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WD1V
well worth the read. pretty enjoyable i thought. it is a hard cover book with lots of color pictures and indepth detail of the history of the Evo in the WRC and several other racing venues. enjoy!!!

you can view some of my other cars in my registered rides...

Can you ask what he did to paint the wheels on the Z? Did he just paint, paint and clear, sand and paint and clear... etc?
I've been looking to do something similar to my stock Z wheels, but am hesitant to do so. Thanks in advance

knowing that i am more prone to buy a book about my car than a book about my future profession seems to be a problem. i've never had a crankwalked 4g63 and good news that i never will. thanks.
i did some peeping around google and found pics of each evo model. i would like toline them up all in black and white, but the problem is... i dont really know what i'm looking for. i found a ton of pics, but i dont know what is stock. did those wheels come factory? is that the stock bumper?
i'll keep at it.
the z wheels were cleaned, marked off and spray painted with wheel paint from advance auto parts. thats all. no clear, no sanding. they really came out great up close as well.

over the last couple months of winter, we had only the z and the srt4. i had sold the black gsx too early.
that sucked. the 2 absolute worst cars I have ever driven in snow.
both the z and evo being stock... i have to admit his car is much more solid than the evo around corners. and high speeds (well, not that high, 90- 120), even with the windows down, the Z is very stable. it still feels like 60 mph. the two cars were dead even when we raced as well
i didn't think it would be that much of a difference lowering the evo, but i am much more confident hitting the turns now. i could feel the height of the car if that makes any sense, and it was uncomfortable to say the least.
it is fun though to keep the z for a day, wax it up all nice and drive around in pigtails. that really pisses the old guys off!

Hey this srt4 that pulls on u on the highway how much power does it have? i was in a evo with minimal mods and 4 people and a srt4 we raced from a roll on the highway we barely pulled on him, that car was movin

it dynoed 257 hp and about the same for torque. i think. it was a while ago. seems like kinda low #'s but it freakin moves.
my exhaust for the evo should be here tomorrow, and the test pipe from the gsx did need to be extended about two and a half inches, but it bolts right up to the down pipe. and we'll see tomorrow how it goes with the cat-back.
then we'll see that srt

lol i think that srt has a chip on its shoulder since u sold it and got the evo, so when it sees u it wants to beat u lol are those srt's front wheel drive if so maybe thats why they pull hard on the highway

yeah, they're fwd. forget trying to hit the gas in first. it's pointless. they're a mess in the snow. they're a mess on the road! the torque steer is rediculous. it was a fun car though, but none the less, it's a neon and it's not worth anything once you drive it off the lot. much happier in the evo.
