Keep Srt-4 or get EVO?
pretty hard to decide between a srt-4 and an evo if cost was factored in. But i would choose the evo
. I bought my car used but for a fairly high price compared to others but is considered a great deal in my area. Haven't found any problems on my car except the obvious cheap paints on the 03. I love my car and once you start modding, you can't stop. So in the long run, if you own an evo, you'll be paying more than just maintenance.

Yeah, if cost is factored in the SRT-4 is tempting, but for the purpose an F-body would do the same thing for even less money than the srt's...but its all relative to personal taste i would never buy an F body because I think they look and smell like a bud light can. Between the evo and SRT 4 i couldnt resist the AWD...that is all.

One more reason to hate dodge and go back to mitsubishi even though the first thing I'll do to an evo will probably void my warranty.
They can't 'void your warranty' for an aftermarket BOV. It is illegal. They have to prove how a BOV would cause damage to whatever part breaks, which is impossible to do considering all it does is re-route air to the atmosphere. Magnusson-Moss Act.

What's your point?
In fact, the SRT-4 does great at rallies considering its FWD. But obviously you wouldn't know something like that.
Everyone will have there own idea's on what you should do. The best thing to do is test drive one and go from there. I you feel like it is worth then that is all that matters. I would highly recommend it to anyone about getting the Evo 8. It is a really fun car to drive.
^---rofl im big on any car that is not american. Reason being american cars at least in my experence run fine untill they brake then they dont stop braking untill your in the hole for a ton of money.

^^doesn't EVO=Lancer=Mirage? although adding AWD and a 15k turbocharged engine with all the fixings is hardly the same. im sure srts hold there own autox, rallying, and on a road course, but it is no EVO. all i know is on the street while i am evading arrest, i can take a right turn at 50+ and half way through it go WOT and full boost w/o loosing it on r compounds with 16k on them. i wouldnt be comfortable in a srt doing that.
you will also need winter tires for you EVO if you want to utilize the AWD. otherwise it won't be much better then an SRT. if you just want to race on the highway keep the SRT, if you want to race anywhere else, a modded EVO can keep up with the best. you can break into the 11's w/o loosing drivability and for maybe 5k in mods. if you put about 15k a year on your car, you will need $800 tire money, $400 for all types of oil changes and tire rotations, $100 in wheel cleaner for all the annoying brake dust, $200 for two track days, $75 for first speeding ticket, $75 for first no front license plate ticket, tons of gas and insurance money, among other things.

I would say get the EVO, especially if you were planning on making any real power, and using it other than at the strip.
I made a mere 400WHP on my formerly modded SRT-4 (Now stock) and could not put down the power to the pavement on the street. Of course I don't mean on stock tires, I was using BFG KD's (not KDW) pretty good non drag radial.. even then there wasn't any traction til 3rd gear, and in the rain none in any gear other than 5th.
I myself am going to switch to an EVO, I can't stand the fact that you have to wear drag slicks to put down power when dragging, and will have a hard time doing a road course if you decide to, with FWD.
The EVO will put down all your power to the wheels, no matter what the power
Which is why I'm getting one
And modding the hell out of it to feed my need for speed

The EVO is not unreliable. Every bonehead on SRT kill stories wants to believe that though to justify their purchase. To each their own.
My car has been modded with 125+whp over stock on the stock clutch for 14,000 miles now. Its FINE. I dont abuse the car on a launch! The car has been nothing BUT reliable and I commute with it. I have 17k miles on my 05 and I got it in February. Its my daily driver and Id only trade it for a Supra
Either way, take one for a drive, youll love it. FWD is just herendous. It sucks racing, it sucks in foul weather, it sucks for handling. Oh wait - its good for highway pulls - THATS IT!!!! Drive an EVO - youll want it!

Thats what i did, I had an 04 Eblue SRT4 for like 14 months then decided to sell it. Luckily for me I found a buyer for my SRT4 willing to pay what I was asking for it. After I got my $$$ from the SRT4, well the rest is history.....off to the mitsu dealer.
Overall after 2 days of owning my EVO, I'm all smiles and I'm still in shock that I own the car now. Yes I had to wait, had to finish school, get a good paying job for all this to be able to happen. Anyhow I will keep a close eye on my car cuz i know it draws a lot of attention.....
People everywhere, suvs, sedans etc wanna race me and cut me off, even in traffic. Its nothing new to me, I've always owned cars that attract attention anyway.
I just hope that with my car that it wont get vandalized if I'm away for a small period of time.
The decisions up to you just think before hand the the evo is a very costly car when it comes to maitenance....and once you do anything to it you have no warranty so be careful of what you might get yourself into
