Question Honda-->VW--> WTB: evo now HELP with purchase

Hey everyone, just wanted to post this up before proceeding with my plans. I'll give you a little backround and all. Had modified honda's since I was 16, currently am 24 and 3 years ago I bought an 03 Jetta 1.8T. I love the german craftsmanship and solidness of the car. But the engine is lacking power, it's FWD, and its small turbo. I owe VW credit $12.5k and I can sell the jetta for $14.5k. I have my eyes set on a used Evo with around 13K miles for around $23K (local used car place).

Basically I'm a little hesitant...due to not knowing the evo's engine and platform. Can you guys give me some feedback on to what problems I'll run into buying a used evo and switch from a VW? What taillight options are there and where to buy them (I hate the stockers) ? What are you guys paying for insurance in NY/Long Island for them? Any other help would be much appreciative.

PS - Where on this board can I find Used EVO's for sale?

EVO VII tails can be had from various vendors on this board.
Who knows what kind of problems a used evo brings? brand new ones can be real finiky sometimes LoL. Definetly an upgrade in power from a VW tho. Oh and check the for sale forums at the bottom of the page...

I believe this has been covered before just try to search a little. But from what i can remember check out the clutch and the paint. My guess is that the dealer doesnt know much about the history of the car so maybe you should try to find a private seller, so they can tell you about the car (but who knows if they are lying lol). Gl with your purchase and most definately an upgrade from vw...
