the decision...
Went to Mitsubishi last night, truthfully it was like they didn't even care that I wanted to buy a car. It was a horrible experience, not to mention the prices they were telling me were almost as funny as their customer service. Case closed I'll be picked up my Dark Gray Metallic STi today. Subaru has a direction and they were much more understanding about everything. Plus I know a guy there and I don't have to be concerned with anything aftermarket. Wish I could have gotten the Evo still but it's just not how the dice rolled. Thanks to everyone that answered my questions on Evom, I learned a lot about both the Evo and the STi. Good luck to all, I'll be checking back on here just to see what is new and exciting in the Evo world.

don't let one bad apple spoil the bag. post another thread and ask other evo members were they had good experience. just because one dealership suck not all of them do. I know the sti is not a bad car but you will just blend in with the many other sti group. there are less of us which means you will be more unique. anyways good luck with your choice.

i have both cars and if you want a nice daily that quick the sti is great. If you want serious performance and amazing driving experience the evo is the only way to go.

OF course
rules! but anyways.... Is there more to the story than 1 bad salesman at a crappy mitsu dealer? was there financing differences that steered you differently?? There has to be more to the story than just the customer service. As we all know, evo's warranty is for crap anyways.. so we dont rely on our dealer to provide things unless we are willing to pay. RIGHT??
Anyways.. whatever your choice is or will be.. good luck with ya.. both are great rides with some nice tunability. But as a diff post on this thread.. there are more STI's out there than i see evo's. Evo's are more original is a good statement.

If someone is going to base the purchase of a car on how one a dealership treats a person, then he/she is either:
1) A dumb shopper
or
2) Biased and looking for more ammo to back up your decision....
in either case, good luck with your choice since you have to live with it.

Thank god you posted chaotixhoax!
My God, I could hardly sleep knowing you were making your decision. I mean JUST TODAY at lunch I was telling one of the guys that I was wondering about WHAT CAR YOU WOULD BUY because I am THAT interested!
On a serious note, these "I AM LEAVING EVOM TO BUY X CAR" posts are a waste of monitor space. Can we have a sticky or something to NOT post this kind of ****?

I am one that values the relationship with the dealer. The first dealership I went to, looking at Evo's was a bunch of dicks. Seriously, just about turned me off to the whole thing. Went to a different dealership and had a much better experience and they've been excellent in working with me.
Just to give you an example. The first service appointment I had the the dealership didn't go very well, and I lost just about all confidence in their service dept. I called and talked to the salesman, the general manager and the service manager about it. Told them it was important to me to keep a good working relationship with them since they sold me the car, but that I was seriously considering going elsewhere. They bent over backwards to make it work for me. The salesman called me back and they had worked out a deal where anytime I needed service, the salesman (not someone from the service dept) would come to me and pick up the car, leave me a loaner vehicle, ALL of the service performed would be personally supervised by the service manager, and the salesman would then return the car to me when it was finished.
That to me was an awesome gesture by a dealership to retain a customer. That type of thing is what will get me to recommend that dealership to my friends and family.
For what it's worth, I graciously declined the offer to have the salesman pick up the car and re-deliver it to me but I accepted the part about having the service manager personally oversee all the service. Anytime I need anything, I don't call one of the loser service writers, I call directly to the service manager and he takes care of it.
Bottom line is you need to communicate with the dealership, and don't be a dick about it. If you treat them with respect, they'll do the same for you.

Same with me I went to a Mitsu dealer and I dont think they even came to talk to us. I also was looking at their prices and they were marked up like 5-10g's above msrp. It was some northwest adjustment crap- no idea what that means couldnt ask either since no one helped us. anyone know what that is suppose to mean?

Bliu,
You have it wrong buddy, look at my amount of posts search my posts. I was Evo all the way until it came time to buy one. I called three dealerships and only one was willing to even do a search for the model I wanted. I went there they tried to stick me with a different color. I told them I wanted what I wanted and it was that simple. I didn't make this difficult for them. I wasn't being rude I just wanted help. When is came to pricing we couldn't agree on anything. He wanted short finance terms I wanted medium length terms. I wanted the car $31ish after taxes he wanted to sell me the car for $31 before taxes. Not too mention the guy was talking to one person at one desk and me at another. That shows disrespect and disinterest. I happen to know the financial advisor at the Ford/Subie/Dodge dealer where I went. The sales person actually had a clue about the STi so I got to learn a little bit in the process. They were willing to sit down and actually care which was nice. We agreed on a price and everything worked out fine. The number one mind changer was not having to worry about my warranty like I would an Evo. A few minor mods and I'll be fine. I purchased the car today, in the darker gray color with gold BBS rims. It's a beautiful car.
Thanks to those who responded in an understanding friendly way. To the rest I'm sorry I let you guys down.

Did you try www.carsdirect.com?
or Costco?
or AAA?
or even edmunds.com?
They all have agreements with specifical sales people from dealerships so you don't have to go through what you went through.
If you REALLY wanted the Evo, there are many more options to choose from to get one other than walking into dealerships.
You said it yourself, you already had a contact at the Subaru dealership which made the deal easier for you with Subaru...you can't compare the two unless you went cold turkey into some unknown Subaru dealership as well. The Financial Advisor is pretty high up in a dealership so of course you were taken care of since you already know him...
Like I said, your story still carries some bias to it. Sorry, I am not convinced.
But good luck with the Subaru - it IS a great car just like the Evo...Your post was still pretty useless though...sorry.
