lookin to upgrade 2 an evo

hey guys. i drive an 04 ralliart right now (drove a 2g eclipse gst before that, so i cant wait to get back in a car w/ the 4g63). i'm lookin to sell the RA and upgrade to an evo hopefully in the near future. i just looked @ one today, sticker price is $31k US. how much should i be able to talk them down (if at all)? i looked on NADA and they're saying invoice is $28k.

i also went over to a subi dealer and told them i'm lookin between an evo and sti. so they're tellin me all this **** about mitsu. ie. mitsubishi is gonna be goin out of business so if they do i wont have a warranty (actually that doesnt sound too bad tho cuz then dont have to worry bout modding it! ), but is this true, is mitsu on the downfall?. they also said that the evo isnt really AWD and the sti is TRUE AWD . he's sayin that the evo is mostly front wheel and power is transferred to the rear and that the sti is completely adjustable.

i'm pretty set on the evo, but just wanted to get some feedback on what the subi salesman is tellin me. my biggest thing is the price and if mitsu is really dying. sorry if all this has been asked before. i searched and found a thread about financing/pricing but that thread wasnt workin. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY FEEDBACK!!

They are just trying to sell you a car. The evo has a 50/50 torque split meaning the front wheels receive exactly as much power as the rear wheels. The Subaru does have a DCCD which allows you to adjust how much power is sent to the rear wheels, but I assure you, the evo is a true AWD car. Also, Mitsu is not going out of business. Mitsubishi Corp is too large of a company to let that happen. Even if they did, the law requires that warranties be honored. IMHO, they are both excellent cars and you can't go wrong with either one, but the evo is the better overall car.

If you plan on modding it extensively at all, I would suggest going with the evo. Doing anything other than intake and exhaust on an STi is somewhat of a PITA.

yeah, i hear you about the modding stuff....like i said, i had a gst so i'm pretty familiar w/ the 4g63. then i look in the engine bay of the sti and i'm like WTF??? lol....it's so cramped. and part of his rant about mitsu goin out of business he said that's why there havent been any tech changes or design changes this year....HUH??? the ralliart has a new engine, the new eclipse has a new engine and completely different body style. and i believe the galant is different. and isnt mitsu adding a whole "RalliArt" division? i dunno, i'm sure he was just tryin to sell me a car but talkin a lot of BS isnt gonna sell me a car. anyways, thanks for your input.

i commend you on postin on this site about your questions and not assume what some subu guy says about mitsu(subu guy probably doesnt like mitsu). all they care about is making money.(most of them, theres a exception to this rule). I think it's in your best interest to wait for the 9's to come out.

You can get them to go lower, but it will be even easier when the IX first comes out. The 05 EVO VIIIs are incredible (all EVOs are incredible) and definitly isn't a bad choice. In case your wondering, the IX is suppose to only cost $500 more than the 05 VIIIs, still dealers may markup. As far as subi dealers dissing Mitsubishi, well all the previous posts are very good and I agree with them 100%.
