03 Evo8 Paint Issue - Warranty question

Hey guys, I have read a lot about the issues people are having with the craptacular paintjob they put on the 03 Evos as well as the lack of clearcoat.

My question is, can I get my car repainted under warranty?

My paint is'nt really chiping off...its "sliding" right off the car. You can take a water hose to it and it just slowy melts away. Its not bad now as there are only a few spots on the panels and hood but it will be a big issue soon especially if it starts to rust.

Any responce will be much appreciated.

I've never heard of anyone getting the paint repaired under warranty, good luck.

The clear coat on my '03 Eclipse was defective and the paint job was deteriorating badly. Fresno Mitsubishi had the whole thing repainted just recently (~$4800). Of course I immediately traded it in right after that for an '05 Evo. Anyway, if it's a clear case of a factory defect, they will most likely cover it.

If it's as bad as you describe, a dealer or representative should recognize it's a factory defect and more than just paint chips. Have you tried a dealer or called MMNA?

Not yet....I will be calling them today. I hate the dealer here though...so I have been putting it off. I also have the same issue with my spoiler....the clearcoat is peeling right off of it, same with the brembo brake calipers...its driving me nutz....they better fix all this.

I sell Jeep and Crysler and they cover paint defects, sometimes you have to push a little but you will get it done!

I noticed the sideview mirrors on my 03 have started to fade to a different shade of red then the rest of the car. I'm going to take it in and at least see if they'll cover it. That and the clearcoat coming off the CF wing

Maybe it has something to do with all the humity you guys live in. I haven't heard of too many issues with paint or fading in AZ.

Just curious, do you guys ever wax your cars? I wax mine about once a week. I use Macguire's Gold Class. It's awesome! It does a great job of protecting the paint and wing.

yea, it stays waxed...but it does it no good. The paint is such a dull pink not even red anymore...the sun has ate it alive...you can see a shine after enough waxing but my hood seems to be the worst. The heat generated seems to be affecting the overall color of it very rapidly.
