Dealers can mark up as much as they want but that doesn't mean they'll get it.

you could probably get the 8 A LOT cheaper than the 9 for now. . . .
The 9 WILL BE MARKED UP especially since the new interior makes it a lot classier (with the Alcantara, etc.) and the demand will remain pretty high given the new engine upgrades (piston rings, mivec, etc.). . . .
I went ahead and got an 8 because I didn't want to really break the bank account, I ended up paying like 32k for my SSL package, which is right at invoice. . . .you'll pay minimum 35-38k for a base 9, MINIMUM, I'm sure they'll be at 39k until next Spring, at which point the demand will peter off. . . .

Price
I wouldn't even consider the IX if it were above sticker. The prices the dealer was talking about for the IX was around $31k-$32k depending on options. They weren't marking it up at all. I've worked with this dealer before (when I bought my '03) and they are pretty good about not marking up. I guess it just depends on the dealer.
It looks like I'm leaning towards the IX, but I still haven't decided.

I don't think that is true, I went to my local mitsu dealership and was able to put down a deposit for the first evo 9 on their lot. I didn't even haggle with the guy, he said MSRP is what he can do and I agreed.
