Typical response how? I haven't called you or anyone else names before. This time you deserved it. You are terribly wrong about the intake and are giving terrible advice. You have yet to provide an alternative solution to either 5 or 9, too..

My PM box is full of people who have asked for advice and help with racing/modding based on this thread, and I believe I've been able to help 90% of them.

That's because you lead them to believe you know what the **** you're talking about. You have only been racing for a few years. You don't know ****. You run a good time and all of a sudden you're a teacher for drag racing? Unreal.

Wow, where did all this come from? Who said a few years? Is 7 included in a "few" now? You already know it's been 7 years, because we've already had this conversation. And who said I ran _A_ good time? I have run LOTS of good times. My first EVER 1/4-mile run was a 12.9 in my '90 Talon. Hey, not a bad start. That same day, I hit a 1.63 60' en route to a 12.65 at 106. Hey, later I ran a 12.58 at 110 in a fwd GS-T on the stock turbo with a 1.81 60' on my daily driven tires. Remember that conversation? Hmm, then I ran a 12.45 at 108 on my 3rd DSM...and this was with a Volvo FMIC that had plastic end tanks. Hey, not bad again.

Now, let's fast forward to the Evo. Stock, ran a good time (13.1). One mod (S-AFC), ran a good time (12.8). A cat-back and an mbc later, ran a good time (12.64). Oh look, same mods, but added race gas and my own tuning...another good time (12.22 with $800 in mods). Now, I'm up to a FULL TBE, omg, can you believe it? Another good time, but only a 12.1, I know it's not quite up to par. So, while you understate my "few" years of racing and my singular "decent time," I will continue to help guys all over EvoM with their drag racing technique.

Did I claim to be the best drag racer around? No. Did I ever say there aren't a lot of other people who are as good as, if not better, than I am? No. I'm just in the upper 10%, at least on EvoM, and I'm very willing to help anyone who asks. Not everyone who is good has the time or desire to sit around here and answer a bunch of posts or PMs regarding drag technique. I know one Evo driver locally who is almost assuredly better than I am (ldstang50), but he isn't sitting in front of a computer all day. Another guy locally, Ivan_C (360whp on the Buschur MD w/WR) can drive the living dogshlt out of his Evo, but he also is not around to provide help like I am. I, on the other hand, _am_ around to provide help AND I know what I'm talking about in regards to drag racing. So, please tell me...what is your problem again?

Are you serious? A stock Evo 8 can run a low 13 STOCK! Add a S-AFC and take away the over rich tuned stock ecu and ANYBODY can run a high 12 JUST LIKE YOU. Get over yourself. Add a few more mods and it should lower the times to mid 12's. Add some race fuel, a hair more boost, and adjust the SAFC for the race gas and low 12's are achievable. Who are you again?

Upper 10%? OMFG you are hilarious. Where did you come up with that number? You actually think you're among the few running those times and capable of tuning their own SAFC? You're a tool.

In the other thread you said you ran a mid 12 w/ 1.8-1.9 60 ft's on street slicks(what size rim again? 16/17) in your early 90's FWD eclipse, YET you said my 2.1 60 ft. times on 18 inch 35 series tires was bad in terms of drag racing in my 96 vert eclipse? You actually think a 2.1 60ft is slow for a 96 FWD convertable eclipse on 35 series 18's? You have no clue as to what you're saying.

I said it in anther thread and I'll say it again. If you hit a hole in one in golf I suppose this makes you think you should be able to become a golf instructor? Does this also give you the right to tell people they are not as good as you because they haven't hit a hole in one like you have? GET A CLUE! Stop insulting people and stop running your mouth before it gets you in trouble.

 

You're not making any sense here. Why do I have to keep repeating myself? I know it's possible to hit low 13s stock...I did it. I know it's possible to hit 12.8 with JUST an S-AFC...I did it (show me someone else who has?). I know it's possible to run 12.2 with a cat-back and less than $900 in mods...I did it. Did I ever once say I was the only person who could do it? No. Do 90% of people with these mods accomplish the same thing? No. Why are you so hell-bent on arguing this? I haven't made any outrageous claims, nor have I hit just "one" good time. I've been consistently drag racing successfuly, and at a higher level than average, for 7 years now. Why would that not give me the right or ability to help others who are new to it? I help tons of people, and they are grateful. I don't see the problem here.

As for my FWD, I had stock-sized rims and a pair of NITTO 555Rs on front. That's how the car came when I bought it on Ebay for $3000, and those were the daily-driven tires. They weren't "street slicks," and I didn't put them on at the track just to race. I drove up, went to the staging lanes, and hit 1.8x's consistently. I said your 2.1 was acceptable, but not GOOD in terms of drag racing. Why are you still obsessing over that? I never said that a 2.1 was BAD. I also never said it was BAD for an 18" rim, good God!! I just said that in THE SPORT OF DRAG RACING A 2.1 IS NOT GOOD!! Christ almighty, please learn to read. I'm tired of repeating this.

When did I ever say anything about anyone else being able to tune their own SAFC? That one was out of left field. I've never made any comments about anyone else being able to tune their own SAFC. It _IS_ true that most people do NOT do their own tuning, though...

Lastly, please explain to me how getting a "hole in one" is in ANY WAY comparable to consistently achieving FASTER TIMES THAN MOST _every_ time I go to the track. I'd absolutely LOVE to hear this explanation. When did I hit ONE MIRACULOUS time, and what time was it? Was it the 13.1 stock, the 12.8 with S-AFC, the 12.2 with cat-back or the 12.1 with TBE? I'm not sure which of those counts as a hole-in-one. I would think none of them, but they sure as hell look like a bunch of birdies and eagles. My hole-in-one will be when I hit that 11.99 on stock cams here pretty soon...

 

Obviously you're too ignorant to understand the comparision I was making to golf. I was simply saying that since you hit some good time(s) it doesn't mean your some kind of drag racing instructor. You seem to think your job is to teach people now, but at the same time insult others because they chose to spend more money than you to achieve the same goal(to go faster).

You keep turning everybody words around when they say something to you to try show you how you act, then you turn words around and try and make yourself look like the intelligent one. I have read your extremely arrogant, rude, and some what ignorant post in other threads, one right after another. There have been MANY people point this out to you already, yet you question everybody for telling you how you really sound.

Do you need 50 or 100 people to tell you how rude and arrogant you sound? You've already had a bunch tell you, how many more do you need?

Like I said, go REREAD some of your post in other threads. You're so full of yourself. Don't try and make it look like your just trying to help out people on here who can't produce good times. You're actually convincing some of these people that you're some kind of drag racing guru, which your not.

I actually think you get off by having this "following" of people. I'm willing to bet most of them are VERY young and don't know any better.

All we're talking about here is drag racing, so try to keep on point. Save the Dr. Phil stuff for someone who gives a damn. I'd like to know how I'm "too ignorant" to understand the golf analogy when it still doesn't fit. You said I hit one good time, so that was like hitting one hole-in-one, yet I did not hit one good time. I have consistently hit GREAT times my entire drag racing career. So, how long do I have to do this before I can "instruct" people on how to drag race? Why am I not allowed to help now? What is wrong with my skills? It's ok to be jealous, but you don't have to manifest your jealousy in such an angry manner. I'm not THAT good, man. Go be jealous of Curt Brown or something...he's the one who hit the "hole-in-one." Is he good enough to instruct people on drag racing? Yeah? I agree...oh, but wait, he's not on here helping people daily, because he has other things to do in life. No problem...it's not his obligation to help people here, but I sure don't mind. I'll continue doing so while you sit on the sidelines.

wARRTALON.. just curious, you want him to say why an intake is not a good idea without a tune, but can you prove your theory right as well? Just curious bc I know I have my own opinion about this, but as of right now I have the intake with no tuning device bc I am in the process of switching them out.
