Haven't heard of them either. But I'm not the most knowledgable parts guy in the world.

don't larger TB lower gas mileage? and how do they work exactly, by increasing airflow, or gas in the combustion chamber?

Gas mileage goes down with consumption of fuel (durh). A stock engine more than anything runs less than efficiently. Aftermarket parts make power by guess what, making it more efficient. So now your car breathes more easily, the stock ECU can adjust fuel at about +/- 10% from base but even then, you need to be moving more than just a basic intake/exhaust setup. A TB also isn't going to be doing much good either until you can port match the thing to the intake manifold. The only time you're gonna see your mileage drop is if moving significantly more air and thus fuel or you've got a dirty *** filter/clogged injector/etc OR because now you have some premium parts you've decided to run the thing to redline from light to light.
