Evo insurance

Hey guys, I am considering purchasing an Evo at some point in the near future (I may have to sell my S13 to do so, not sure yet...). Anyway I happened to check in with my insurance company and was astounded at how high the rates were (from around $1000/yr for my Z32 to $3600/yr for Evo). Apparently the Evo is the #1 worst-rated sedan (insurance wise) by a long shot? I'm almost 30 with a spotless record and excellent credit, so I was shocked. I don't know how these young kids can afford the rates. Did your insurance jump when you moved into an Evo?

I guess I should mention that I have all the positives for a good quote: garaged, good neighborhood, defensive driving, etc etc. The only new factor was the car.

I'm also in CT about your age....my rates are about $1450/yr with an '03 evo. I also have 2 other cars and house on my policy though. My collision has gone up marginally, but nothing crazy. Also of note, that price is on my new policy for next year so it's not outdated.

Most kids can't afford the insurance or the car for that matter, thats where the parnets come in. Im 25 an engineer and can just afford to pay bills and beat the evo and fix the evo

You need to search different insuance companies. I own a civic and i wanted to insure an 05 Evo w/ nationwide, they wanted too much. I ended up getting "online quotes" from almost everyone. State Farm was the least of all. I'm 25 w/ clean record and my coverage's are all 100k/300k w/ 500 deductables............comes out to be 147/month.

Good luck, but you have to look around. 147/month isn't great but better than everyone else who qoutoed me 200-300/month

I'm 28 with a clean driving record and I pay $73 a month for full cvg. I was shocked as I was paying about $130 a month on a 1993 Probe GT. I got the Evo and the insurance went down $50 a month. Agent said difference was that it is a sedan. I have since had the car almost 2 years with no change in insurance rate.

My insurnace went down to 83 bucks a month from 86. I used to have a 00 civic SI. Funny thing to me is a civic costing more to insure than an EVO.

I'm at about 125/mo in a city, with 2 tickets in the last 3 years. Of course I'm 28 and single too.

Funny thing, i posted the same thread about a month ago prior to purchasing my EVO. I couldn't find anyone to insure the EVO for a decent price. Price for insurance is all based on Location, LOcation, location.................and age, record and coverages.

The people who are saying they pay so little may or may not have great coverage. I chose the 100/300k coverage so i would be covered if something happened (like an accident)

Hmm, some of the rates you guys have is encouraging. I figured my insurance would jump up insanely. But by the sound of it, it shouldn't if I look around. Now granted, MI has horrible rates since its a "No Fault" state ( ) but being 25, perfect record, married and driving less than 6000 miles a year, I should be okay
