Also to the guy that said MLB is pointless on radio, MLB has a long standing tradition of radio broadcasts and you get the home team announcers.
I actually work with sat radio for my job -car electronics, installation is fairly simple, just be carefull with your antenna. i would choose getting a direct tuner box for your aftermarket radio (if available) and between sat radios, i would choose sirius. i actually have xm and sirius, and i like a lot of the stations of what sirius has to offer more than i do xm, although xm does have a few good ones sirius doesnt. as far as the ipod goes, its your call, your going to pay either way. pay 13 a month for a lot of different music, or have an ipod where you put what you have in there. i say go with sat radio, gives you a better variety
wow... im amazed that someone said opie and anthony are better... last i checked it was howard stern who was killing in ratings, damn near made the genre what it is today, and much less is one amazing influential person.
wow, like i said, mlb may have a long standing tradition on radio, but its not exactly exciting to listen to... and dont brag about being able to listen to the home teams... siriuis gives u the option to listen to the home team announcers or the away team announcers... (unless ur a titan fan, like me... when i cant watch the games on my sunday ticket due to work, i can only listen to the away team broadcast announcers because the titans flagship radio station is a bunch of dicks and wont allow siriuis to broadcast the play.... )

its a touch debate between xm and sirrus. When I was in Daytona for a trip that circuit city sent me on (RPM) everyone from the west coast said the sirrus was better. Everyone from the east coast said that xm was better...
I guess it depends on what you listen to, and the quality of service in your area..

I have an Ipod hooked up through my head unit and the sound quality is great. I've driven in a car with XM radio (direct line in) and it was nowhere as sharp in audio quality as the ipod. YMMV

Sat. Radio, on the other hand will have (has) a tremendous variety of music, not to mention sports, comedy, talk, etc... and of course you'll get reception basically wherever you are. In other words if you're only using it for your car, I'd say the iPod is cool, but the money would be far better spent on Sirius or XM, especially if your main reason is variety!
Incidentally, my wife and I are getting each other Sirius for christmas...

you could get both....FM modulators would be the best way to hook them up satilite radio involves a magnetic antenna on your roof and a cigarette liter socket or if you want a clean install just have it hardwired...professional install for a sat radio is gonna be like 75 or 85 at like a circuit city. IPOD is just music and Satillite radio is music, comedy weather, sports etc. and only 13 dollars a month you could go with both but if it was one or the other go with sat radio.
XM have always had a problem with shallow platlists, so on a long car ride, you usually hear the same song fifteen times. Also, the quality sounds more like stereo AM; it is not as good quality as FM. Explanation: I have a Pioneer Premier deck with IP-bus XM unit, so the connectivity is all digital, but the main problem is the horrendously low bitrate (less noticeable on high bitrate channels such as BPM) and poor stereo separation resulting in crappy soundstage.
I am planning on making the switch to Sirius since they cost the same per month and Sirius has many more channels I prefer. You can listen to Sirius online free for three days.
Get a sat-ready head unit with mp3 capability and listen to both Sirius and XM in a store to see which one has the channels you prefer.

This weekend I finally ditched XM and moved to Sirius - what a difference! I originally had XM installed by Car Toys as I had no time at all at that point to do the installation myself - worst decision I ever made. They installed the tuner above the pedals, dangling from some cable ties, and the power connector was rubbing against some metal, so it shorted out within days and blew a fuse. They also glued the antenna to the roof for some reason, even though it is a magnetic mount.
I removed all the crap, cleaned the glue off my roof and did a clean Sirius install. I put the tuner behind the cubby hole below the head unit and mounted the antenna on the roof at the front centre just behind the windshield, running the wire behind the rubber strips. I'll see if I can take some pics later and maybe document the installation with pictures.
The sound quality on Sirius is better as far as the stereo separation goes. Also, I can pick up my favourite station from the UK (Radio 1), so I am happy.
