IX worth the $$$ over VIII?
i drive an 8 and i think that the only reason he should buy a 9 is if he just palns on doing the normal bolt ons. but if he plans to upgrade the turbo or dig into the engine any further. i think he should get the 8
is ALL the money worht it? the MSRP between the 9 and 8 are slim. I personally think $500 over the 8 is an EXCEPTIONAL deal...think about it..
WAY better seats
Nice "carbonfiber" accents in the interior
Updated front end which looks/cools better
STOCK blacked out taillights(no need for evodave now! jk)
The turbo
and probably has a lot of the older defects worked out. (which have pretty much been worked out on the 05s anyway).
I think its well worth it. A base model evo9 is 32ish i believe, used evos are around 28-29, i'd personally pay the extra few thousands and get a brand spanking new evo9 fresh off the lot, instead of saving 3-4k and getting an older model which has been used for a few k's

The IX is obviously worth the extra money over the VIII. Unless you can get a pristine used VIII at a price that is much lower than a IX. Note that unless you have the funds to pay for a used VIII outright, you'd have to finance the VIII. Financing a used car is not smart. Interest rates are much higher for a financing a used car, especially if it's a private seller.
On a side note..........
I know many VIII owners are weighing the possibilty of selling their VIII and then buying a IX, but honestly if you have an VIII just keep it and mod the hell out of it.
I've finally settled on just that.
Despite many reservations about not waiting for the IX.
In my case, I'd lose too much money on making the switch.
Example:
1. I'd lose money on selling my VIII. I think I'd get about $30,000 for my VIII (05 RR w/SSL and 1,350 miles), which would be a loss of $2,500.
2. After getting my funds from the sale of my VIII, I'd pay off what I owe Mitsubishi, about ($25,000 which includes tax which I added in to finance).
3. That leaves me $5,000 I'd have left.
4. I put $9,000 down on my VIII, so I lose $4,000 from the sale of my VIII.
5. Now I get a IX at about $35,000, which I'd put the same amount down ($9,000), which means I have to put another $4,000 on top of the $5,000 I got from the sale of my VIII.
6. Now the killer: Interest. I got 0% financing on my VIII, but without it I would have gotten 4.9% over 48-60 months. So now I have to finance $26,000 (not including tax) at 4.9% over 48-60 months, which comes to about $2,500 - $3,000.
As you can see, in my case getting the IX would be quite a financial loss compared the purchase of my VIII.
Of course, that example was just my scenario; I know everyone has their own financial circumstances.
Just my 2 cents.

that is awesome. thanks guys. i had pretty much made up my mind, with a new IX. but your guys opinions are very valueable. thank you. i think the fact of having a brand new car as opposed to a used one is huge, plus like you guys said, the updates, mainly the MIVEC, the turbo inlet and the new rings. every little bit counts. thanks again
