New evo owner

Finally bit the bullet and picked up a ww IX mr yesterday and to tell you the truth, Im a bit timid for some reason. When I was shopping around between the evo and the sti, I test drove the sti but actually had the salesman drive the evo. The car feels great! Seems like alot of power, thought I havent gone above 3k rpm due to breaking in the engine. Nothing like the sti. I am ashamed to admit it took me literally about 5 minutes to finally find reverse. Will try and get some pics up. Anyways just wanted to say hi and kinda introduce myself

What do you mena nothing like the STI,.............?? Obviously you liked the EVO because you bought it, nice choice w/ the IX and MR,............WW is nice, not a big fan of white, but it looks sweet on the EVO especially w/ a carbon hood and bottom front air dam. Congrats

Timid because off the bat, the car feels so much more responsive than the sti, even below 4k, and also its my new baby " toy ". Dont wanna screw with it just yet until I can get comfortable with it. I know it sounds silly. Thanks for the warm welcome

Btw.. I gave my old sti to the wife, she aint touching the evo !! hehe

The break-in procedure does not say that you should stay under 3k. That is the way you DON'T break in the engine. YOu need to make sure you do PLENTY of boosting, but just don't go over 5k rpm. If you stay below 3k, you're just hurting yourself, the car, and wasting the car.

Be sure to boost often, don't stay in one gear at one speed for long durations of time, and don't go over 5k often (never to 7k).

I just been reading on here on different posts regarding breaking in. I should do some boosting. Thanks for the advice.

Yes, it allows the piston rings to seal, which is very important for the car making power down the road.

haha, funny thing was that I was leaning more towards the sti for the interior factor. I have a long commute to work everyday....... about 1-2 hours each way. When we went to subaru, for some reason I didnt qualify for their low apr and payments were gonna be higher, so I said "adios" Got a better rate and lower payment with mitsu.

Some people said breaking in the engine with dino (non-synthetic oil) is better than fully synthetic oil.

Anyone know why? And if so, what oil (eg. 10W-40) would be best to break in with?
