newbie from SA

I just bought an IX last month and I freakin love it! I had to sell my beloved '95 Civic I've had for the past 6 years cause I was getting lumped in the group of embarrassing white body kits, huge wings, and lawnmower exhausts that make up 90% of Honda ricers in south Texas. So annoying. I've always wanted an Evo and saved up some dough from when I was in Iraq and thank God I bought one.

I also have about 3k to spend and I've been looking throughout the threads trying to figure out what to do with it. I'm looking for straight speed, screw cosmetics. I've been thinking about exhaust, dp, bov, clutch, mbc, and dynoflash. Any ideas for the remaining money?

If you include all those parts, shipping, and installation, that's about $3k already.

What did you think of my suggestions via PM?

Congrats dubIX!

I just traded my 04 Evo RS for an 06 IX MR and I'm lovin' it too! I'm trying to be patient about mods since I'm waiting for verified fitment on different exhausts. Then it's just a matter of time for when one of the tuners makes their way down to south Texas.

Good luck and enjoy the car!

Tony

Welcome to the group! You'll love your Evo.

That sounds like a good start for mods except instead of the BOV I'd save the money to pay for all the trips to the track . Enjoy!

dubIX, congrats of switching from Hondas to Mitsu's.
I switched from Hondas to Toyotas (2JZ-GTE) and I am loving it. No more ricers to deal with.

How's MZM in Austin? I heard they've got the AWD dyno and have been successful with EVOs and STi's.

MZM installed my PowerFC D-Jetro on my 04RS. They have a really nice shop and seem to do very good work. The only problem is that they don't rent out their dyno, so you can't sponsor a tuner to come down there for a dyno day. It's a pity because it's so close and their MD is a wonderful tuning tool, just EXTREMELY low reading..... a real heartbreaker.......

Maybe someday someone will be able to talk them into hosting a tuner, but I wouldn't hold my breath.......

Congrats on the new car!

btw.. I'm willing to come to SA for a tune. I talked to Al (Dynoflash) about coming down to do some tuning and it sounded like a possibility.

Welcome DubIX. We sometimes get together around Central Texas, so watch the South Section on EVOm.

BTW, MZM now does Eccutek Flashes for the EVO. I'm not sure how many they've done, but if it is anything like their WRX/ STi flash, it's a great option.

How much of a difference does MZM's mustang dyno make? Is there a way to calculate the actual hp?

The mustang dyno shows low reading but tuning on it is like driving on real road.
The mustang dyno can also give close to real life 1/4 mile time.

I did not know MZM don't rent out their dyno
