Evo 8 MR vs Evo 9 MR

Howdy,

I've been away from the boards for a while. What’s the word on the street about the evo 8 MR vs the evo 9 MR?? What kind of advantages does the MIVEC have? Is it smoother, as upgradeable??? Thnx in advance,

Also,

Anyone in here ever owned a Acura NSX? How does it compare to the Evo? I currently own an 8 and am thinking about getting an NSX.

Bryan

The NSX is old! But a very high quality car none the less...

The EVO evolves and that is why the '06 EVO IX MR is better than the the '05 EVO VIII MR. The next EVO will be better than the '06 and so on and so forth. When that trend ends so will the EVO...

On the NSX you have to be prepared to spent big money on repairs/parts when needed, the NSX still have an astronomical value as a used car and it is not a very fast car for the price you are paying but it is still a great car.

The NSX is assemble by hand and the engine is fully assembled by hand as well.

As far is the MR, well, there are no changes(performance wise) other than the Mivec and bigger turbo with better BOV.

I dont know why people make the NSX to have maintenance issues but theyre still reliable hondas. My brother has one (93) and has never had a problem. Yes...they are expensive when that time comes but what do you expect from an "exotic?"

Another issue i have is that people only compare straight line speed. No its not the fastest in the quarter but the NSX was not meant or built for drag...but for track, hence the MR layout w/ a super low center of gravity.

last thing...10 out 10 times you will get more looks and respect by driving a NSX than an EVO since the EVO is considered more "boyracer" (Im still going to get one)

I've owned an NSX before...and to tell you the truth, you can't really compare 1 to another...Totally different classes with different features...Can't go wrong with it though because you'll have the realiability of a Honda...Maintenence cost is somewhat expensive, but hey, if you can afford the NSX, you won't have a problem...If you want the average grocery getter/4-dr on steroids, definately keep your EVO...The NSX will get you more unwanted attention...Sometimes good, sometimes bad, who knows...and the NSX community is great....

The NSX is not an everyday driver.
The Evo is like the mailman: sun, rain, snow, or sleet you can count on it.

Why is that? Unless you need to carry four people plus luggage, I don't see why the NSX couldn't be a better daily driver. If anything, I would think a naturally aspirated honda would be more reliable mechanical wise

I agree with this saying, its not that I'm bias toward the Evo. But its because the rep and pretige of the NSX is on a much different level. I mean...if you are getting a NSX and only do super market runs? I'm sorry thats like a disgracing the NSX, but thats just me.

Not to mention the cost of any mods to go on the NSX cost a heap. A header on the Integra would cost around $300-$500, but for a NSX would cost close to $1000, that should give you an idea about the car.

But if you want to do it, by all means, just get it.

Stick with your evo 8 and wait for the Evo X to get here. Only 20 months away. By then the new NSX will be on our shores and you can test drive away with the both of them. The LF-A from Toyota and Nissan GT-R will be here by 2008. Lots of fun cars and choices. Save your money for them. Japanese super cars rule. German inspired and with the fineese of the Japanese.

For 90,000 dollars I expect to go a little faster than low to mid 13's

Yeah you will get more looks in an NSX, you spent 90,000 dollars for Ferrari looks with EVO speed,.......I'm sure it handles real nice as low and wide as it is, and it looks awesome,.. but the horsepower for the $$$$ is not there.

well, i have an VIII MR and have driven my friends 91' NSX and both are great handling fast cars, however the evo is much more practical, he does daily drive his NSX and it seems as reliable as a civic, but only two seats and if you think evos eat tires fast, wait till you have an NSX!
