Evo 6 Ignition Cut

Hello Evo Gurus and all,

Just signed in a couple of days ago and need some light on a particular problem with an evo 6.

The car seems to have misfire that feels like 2 cylinders are not running . This happens at any boost level past 8lbs and on 100 % throttle open. You can get this figure up to 10 lbs boost but at about 30 % throttle open.

AFR is about 10.5 tp 11.5 when we get the miss.

If anyone has this problem please let me know. I am in India and there are about 2 Evos in the country. So there is no support for the car.

I hope m in the place for this kind help.

thanks anyway

jade, madras, india.

I would replace the plugs, but I don't know how easy it is for you to get replacement plugs. We use copper NGK BPR7ES gapped to .026 on our USDM Evos.

Hi Warrtalon, thanks for the reply. We were using the NGK IX but have shifted to a denso. Plug gap is about .035 . The miss feels like an ignition cut when one or 2 cylinders are not firing .It does not feel like a misfire due to a lean mixture or anything. Plugs have been replaced but we still have the problem.

We have fitted set of Nology Plug Wires with ground and that relocates the coil packs . Could this have caused the problem ?

Spent the last couple of days in the garage and we checked the electronic signals from most of the sensors and they were all within range. We also went back to stock ignition plug wires and still had the miss.

Today we cleaned a resistor that is connected to the injectors and took the plug gap from 1mm to .7 mm. THE CAR NOW RUNS FINE .

We have yet to go back to a 1mm plug and see if thats the problem. I am going to drive it for a while and enjoy it before we experiment some more. Thanks for the help warrtalon. Much appreciate it.
