New to the Evo World...

Hi everyone. I've been following the forum for the past couple of months and just picked up my new 2006 graphite gray Evo IX GSR Tuesday night. I traded in alot of hard work in my '92 3000GT VR-4 and I have to say that it was all worth it.

So to all of you, I'm glad to be a part of this forum.

Thanks,
Ryan

Congrats Ryan . I have one the same color. At first I didn't like the color, but now I love it. What mods are you thinking about?

Thanks. I've been real big on metallic grey for a couple of years (tried to talk my girlfriend into it when she bought her '04 Corolla & my '92 VR-4 was also metallic grey). When I went to my dealer to order the car they told me that all 3 Evo's that they had on order were grey so I think they dig them too.

As for the mods, I'm going to at least try to keep the waranty intact as long as possible so most mods will be of the cosmetic type for a while. I already ordered my Greddy CW shift knob and black billet shorty antenna.

A question to all out there, does anyone else find the standard 5 speed shift knob is so small that it feels like a leather covered golf ball on a stick? Maybe my hands are bigger than I thought, but it's considerably smaller than that of all other cars & trucks that I've owned.

JDM motor swap, rebuilt tranny by Kormex, HKS intake, gutted pre-cats, high flow cat, custom dual 3" exhaust, 18" chrome '96 VR-4 wheels, Nitto NT555's and about a million problems with hesitation. It had an issue with one or more of the following: ECU, ignition, transfer case, spark plug blow out, boost leaks, possessed by demons, who knows but it cost me a ton of money to try to get it running right and I pretty much got nothing out of all my hard work.

I felt your pain, I too had a VR4 (1994) and while it was a great performance car, it caused me much pain and heartache. I hope you enjoy the EVO IX, it should be a very enjoyable car and with less blood, sweat, and money poured into it, should be just as fast or faster than your VR4 and not weigh a million pounds, just kidding, VR4s aren't that heavy.

Man, that blows. Your Evo should be a lot more fun. Just follow the tried and true DSM upgrade path and ignore what all the ricers tell you to do (like buy the latest bling bling blow off valve).

I've been around for a while so I don't see myself falling into any of the ricer crap. This is my 3rd Mitsu ('91 and '92 VR-4s). I get my "bling bling kicks" off on my bagged '94 S-10 stepside rollin' on 20"s.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.
