CALLING ALL EVOM GURUs! ! ! !

this ist really a newbie question but i didt know wher to put it so everyone would check it out.

looking for a standalone ECU.....has anyone ever heard of, used, or know someone who has, etc. MegaSqurit?

http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html

i have been lookin around for a good standalone that is cheap and gets the job done. My question about megasquirt is how is it to tune? is it like the LinkPlus, AEM etc?

(i have 2 friends that have street tuned there own cars with a LinkPlus and have no problems with it and both are electrical engieer majors so there knowelge of electronics is pretty vast. )

Mainly just want opions on this product. if not fimiliar goto the page read up and let me know what you think. i know i will have to soder my wires or make a harness and dev. a base tune. but has anyone seen this on cars or used it and can can yes its a good product.

Never heard of it, as far as cheap goes, you get what you pay for the AEM is the easiest to tune and has a lot of features. That looks pretty complicated, but if you know what you are doing...

I believe some of the RA owners uses it, so you might want to ask them.

Don't be fooled by the price. The MegaSquirt is a very powerful tool from what I understand. I've got a buddy of mine building one for his Lancer 4g94. If you're a noob at tuning I'd shy away and start with something easier. If you feel confident, it's defenetly a good system to get.

Thumbs up

Just be patient. ther's a shop down in AZ that has a new flash software that has bridged the gap between standalone & stock ECU. their program allows you to tune your own car. if they can't help u, try the new Greddy E-Manage Ultimate.
