Don't mean to sound like a dink but what are those MR shark thingies on the roof and what the hell do they do? Is it worth the money?

it's breaks up the turbulent air going towards the wing/spoiler and helps further reduce lift at higher speeds

It's called Vortex Generator, suppose to smooth out the air flow as it goes over the top and as it goes down toward the spoiler...something like that. Do some searches, there are some pics of the wind tunnel with it.
My 2 cents on it's worth...at high speed, probably yes; at low...nope....It just looks cool.

Here, read this:

The whole article is good, too.

I just read this from Mitsu when I was looking at the IX MR. It's called the Vortex Generator, as others have said, and it's designed to channel the wind that's coming over the roof of the car directly to the rear wing. The design of the car already allows for fairly direct air flow, however the generator is designed to better guide the air. Additionally, you will now find a small lip at the edge of the MR wing. The standard rear wing alone is said to generate approximately 90 pounds of downforce at 100 MPH. With the addition of the vortex generator and the small lip, downforce is said to increase by approximately 10 pounds.

I, personally, would rather spend the $200 for something else. It's a great feature to have if the car already comes with it. It's hardly worth $200 to me, as it is mostly a cosmetic upgrade, unless you are doing over a buck on a regular basis.

So for some people, this would be a good upgrade

Yes, its worth it because there are some of us that must feel 150mph every day

I am getting one because I removed the wing to appease my wife, but I wanted some small racy detail. I think they look cool. One guy on here is selling nice replicas for $100 shipped.

(If you do a search, eventually you'll find a thread that describes how one forum member read Mitsubishi's engineering paper on the VG. he said that the paper shows that they validated the design on an Evo that had no wing, so I guess it has some miniscule aerodynamics benefits even if you don't have a wing.)

It's meant to be used in conjunction with the wing, not by itself.
