EVOm Newbie just saying Hi.
I'm new to these EVOm forums, and so far it's been great site with a lof of valuable information. I've been posting over on ClubRSX.com for a while, and I am glad to make the transfer over to here.
I currently drive a Nighthawk Black Pearl 2002 Acura RSX Type S with a whole lot of mods including CAI/IMG/GW/RH/ECU/E Tein Coilovers with EDFC, C-West/Buddy Club Body Kit and CF Hood, and a whole bunch of other suspenion pieces, and engine dress-up.
It's been a great car, and I have loved owning it since they were first released in late 2001. It has never given one problem, and has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. However FWD and the N/A power delivery of the car just isn't cutting it for me anymore.
I have always been in love with the EVO, and AWD is perfect for the CT winters, and there is so much more power, and potential in the EVO. It is just the perfect car. I just hope it's close to being as reliable and problem free as my Acura RSX-S.
Anyway the car is going to be parted out and sold after a local car show where I'm entering the RSX-S. Then my plans are to get 2006 EVO IX MR.
I want the MR because I want to leave it stock for the most part, especially the suspension... the only mods I might do are a TBE, MBC, SAFC-2 and an ECU flash of some sort(not sure which or what), Rims, a custom carputer/sound system, and that's about it.
My only problem is I don't know which color to get the MR in... I want Tarmac Black, but I know it isn't offered in that color.

Besides the EVO, is so good from the factory it's not really like I need to do anything.

I love my MR. You should get the Graphite Gray in my opinion, but it's all up to your preference.
When you decide to mod, consider the IX package in my sig. It's inexpensive, very powerful, reliable, and includes all the parts you need with nothing wasted. I'm not sure why you planned on getting an SAFC and a flash, when they are competing tuning methods, but with my package, you just get the flash and don't have to worry about the SAFC. By the way, the price includes shipping.
Also, there's no reason to upgrade the rims on an MR. They come with lightweight, forged BBS rims that are only available on the MR. They weigh 17.74 lbs, look awesome, and are excellent for racing.

The package that is offered in your sig is exactly why I'm looking for. Something simple, straightforward, with good gains and reliable. When the time comes to mod the EVO that shall be my route. Thank you for the help and advice.I'm leaning towards the Graphite Grey, although I really like the Wicked White too. It's down to those two colors.
As far as Rims go, I was thinking of getting a set of 16's with a thicker side wall, because I drive in NYC a lot and the roads are horrible, and riddled with deep potholes. I've been through a few RSX rims because of this and, I don't want to mess up those beautiful BBS rims by bending or denting them. But when I'm not into NYC I would use the BBS rims.
Again thanks for you input.

Then this faster time in your sig is with the package(including the flash) plus the a SAFC. Was the SAFC useful here in addition to the flash because you were tuning it for the 110oct that was added for the run, and not something you would run daily on the streets?
12.00 @113.7 - 110oct WT/BR + SAFC
341whp/361wtq - WT/BR + Alky@26psi
Thanks in advance.
Congrats on the soon to be new evo. Your not going to need a SAFC if your going to get a flash. I would avoid it unless you know what your doing. Warrtalon knows his stuff and he wouldnt steer you wrong. Check out his tuning packages. He has given me advice quite a few times and he is dead on accurate.
With a TBE, MBC and a ECU flash you will put down 330whp+. I just did mine yesterday and it's a beast in the making. You will have no regrets with the EVO IX. Good Luck

Now, I have alky injection running full time, so I'm tuned at my full race mode for daily driving and no longer need to add race gas nor use the SAFC.

330whp sounds great, and is an amaizing power jump for so few mods. It's also a huge jump and improvement over my 205whp.... lol

Since I already had an SAFC leftover from my previous DSMs and since I like to be able to go all out on race gas at the track, I mixed in some 110oct, turned up the boost 3psi, then fine-tuned with the SAFC. It's not as good as getting custom tuned for race gas, but since I drive my car daily on pump gas, my best method was to fine-tune with the SAFC.

The Alky injection is something that is completely new to me and I'm going to need to do some researching on.
Here's my before-and-after WHP curve with alky:

If the rpm signal would have been working on the first pull, I'd be able to show you the HUGE difference in torque (~80wtq max difference).
