STRONG AND weak POINTS OF THE EVO??
call me picky but i would have loved the option for the JDM factory navigation and Auto Climate Control.
Stupid rattles are quite annoying as well, i swear every day there is a new one, but the one from the day before mysteriously goes away...

I know this will sacrafice chassis rigidity, which is why I don't think this is really a negative, but I wish the rear seats folded down so I can put the occasional surfboard or folding table in the trunk.
For some of us who's eyes are just as old as the driver Mitsu in my opinion should have made the gauge cluster and MR optional gauges larger in size. also why not offer the choice of Amber or White Faced. Seems to me a little market research would have been a good idea.
Pro:
Pretty fun to drive... little slow on the straights, but it's fun turning... alot of body roll though. Feels very stable at 90MPH+... 4 doors is nice for when you ahve to hull family members around. Seats are comfortable. Turbo is a little laggy, but definately barable... Not bad for a 2.0L. Alot of power and good 1/4 mile times for very little mods (IX). Can't keep my foot off the gas.
Cons:
I'm going to say something negative about the seats... they're hard to sleep in. Other than that, I love them. Also, the wing blocks too much of the rear view. And it sucks on gas mileage. Cup holder gets in the way of shifting with some drinks. Too much interior noise. I got pulled over for the wing and i showed him the booklet I got from the dealership and they let me go (ALWAYS keep the brochure thing in your car! lol.). The air from the air vents dont seem to come out strong enough. I dunno when they stopped, but why'd they stop putting intercooler sprayers in the IX's (they probally dont make much of a difference, but I'm curious)? Attracts too much attention. Can't keep my foot off the gas.

It depends on your expectations as to what's good and bad. I mean, although I think the interior is bland, it works fine. Obviously it's not Merc or a Lexus but it all works alright. you buy a car like this you hope to the God of tarmac that they spend as many of your dollars as possible on making the thing quick, not put in real leather and seat heaters and so on.
For me:
bad:
-mysterious rattles
-paint. scarily similar to tipex
-understeer. on throttle and off
-realtively high driving position (I sit lower in my Sti)
-mysteriously expensive stock parts
-bizzarre transmission system oil requirements. what's the deal with the diaqueen stuff?
-unavailability of stock tyres. also of 235/45/17
-turning circle similar to a lorry. makes you look retarded in tight spaces
-not so good shift action
-those roof liners (black rubber strips on the sides of the roof) come off every now and again
good:
-the rest

Just drove my Evo IX MR home from South Coast Mitsubishi. 1300 mile drive. I bought the car as a fun daily driver and intend to use it for road trips.
The good:
- Fantastic motor. Smooth and powerful.
- MR 6-speed is geared well for highway cruising and around-town driving.
- Seats are very comfortable.
- Interior is simple but clean and functional.
- Easy to modulate the clutch.
- Great feel on smooth roads.
- Good seating position (I'm 5'10").
- Higher seating position provides better visibility.
- Telepathic handling. When necessary, can dart in and out of traffic with ease, but not twitchy.
- Excellent high speed stability.
- Firm but smooth suspension on rounded road bumps.
- Roomy trunk.
- People don't try to cut you off.
The bad:
- Tires are of course noisy on all but smooth asphalt.
- Suspension will beat the crap out of you on compression lips in old asphalt. I would not own this car if I had to frequently drive SoCal or Bay Area freeways. Either that or I'd install some different dampers and perhaps lighter springs.
- No vibration isolation from old, coarse asphalt. Wears you out in a few hours.
- Already has a few minor rattles.
- Front seats do not have a "recline" lever.
- Rear seats do not fold down.
- Some noise transmission into the interior.
- Factory stereo does not play MP3s.
- Wing does partially block visibility through rear-view mirror.

- Car does not have cruise control. This is just plain stupid that they cannot include this. I'm traveling to Ohio in a couple weeks, 8hrs of highway travel and no cruise!
- I hate the recline adjustment knob for the recaro seats. Its a real pain to reach to adjust. It either needs mounted in an easier to reach place, or use something quicker like a lever.
- More power.
- Would be nice if it had a factory boost gauge located in place of that silly "Lancer" blank spot on the dash. Although I prefer to read it in PSI it would likely be in KPA.
- Factory stereo does not play MP3s and doesn't include Sirius Satellite Radio. Will be replacing mine with an Alpine (CDA-9857) unit shortly.
- Would be nice if the rear seats folded down.
- I don't like the material used for the door armrest on the 9. It wears quickly.
No other complaints.
i feel its a great car.....
the good and bad in evo's are depending on which model you're refering to..
evo 7's have a week point in gearbox...
the radius of the steering wheel is crap in all evo's... but never the less... its a performance car... usually race cars steering radius is quite crap...
the handling i feel is a little under steer... but with the all time 4wd... we able to get back in line to take the turn.. interior is just plain simple.. well.. if you want a comfortable and slick interior... why dont you get a BMW 2006 5series or a mercedes benz????...
power is great...
but i do agree with the fuel consumption... dat sucks... Its a Fish!!!!!!!!...

The bad in my experience thus far having my 03' for only a few months -- has 14K miles on it and it threw the dreaded P0300 code (cylinder misfire), I hate the way the seats adjust, notchy shifter, and the interior should be as nice as the STi's!
The good...just about everything else! The car runs great (even with the CEL), and it's a joy to drive everyday! I get so many looks and compliments on it, and it's basically stock! Love it and don't regret the purchase one bit!
