MR edition
No, it's because there is no real IX MR. It's just a name Mitsu used in the US for marketing. The VIII MR is a limited edition that only had 1200 units made WORLDWIDE. 1000 of those were in the US. There is no real IX MR (no JDM version), so it is not considered a limited production vehicle. I do not know the # of IX MRs made, though.

When I went to purchase my EVO 9 MR at Gillman Mitsubishi, it had a window sticker stating a production of only 1500. So, I knew right there and then I would have to get one.

There are no MR's for the UK for 2006 there maybe FQ's but they are not MR's. The MR designation was only for the year 2005. All the parts that made the EVO a MR is available as an option for 2006 and the aluminum roof is standard everywhere but the US.
i honestly think at least in the south florida area the MR is just as abundant as the regular gsr. i do recall looking for an MR just to check it out when i bought my gsr. and i couldnt find not one this was last year March. but the 9 Mr i see those ALL the time.
