No problems with the car and baby. I wanted to see how my daughter would like the ride in the EVO with Gt35R and KSport coilovers to her grandparents house (30 minute drive). With the wife in the back seat watching her, I asked her twice how she was doing and she said fine, 10 minutes later my daughter was sleeping (not enough power for her , j/k). I drove with her in the car under normal driving conditions. She was only 4 weeks old at the time.

Evo is great for a child. I've got the recaro seat for my son who is 6 months old. When they are at the age to fit in the recaro seat I suggest getting it. I saw first hand what the infant/booster seats you buy from target, walmart, etc. do in a car accident. The cheap plastic gets tangled up around the child...not pretty at all. Besides its ranked as one of the safest for a child. Just rock your baby on board sign like I do and take it slow with the child inside. If you have an aftermarket exhaust, the baby will fall asleep in no time. Defenitely safe if you drive safe.

My little bear, she is 8 months old and has ridden in the car for a while now. No problems here. In fact, she goes to sleep as soon as the key is turned and that exhaust soothes her and vibration rocks her to sleep!

Congrats on the baby though!

My daughter rode in the evo when she was about 9mo old and now that she is starting to talk when she gets into her car seat I hear the jibberish" da-da fast" make me laugh every time. She now can say Evo!! FTW

We put the car seat in the center position for added safety in case of a side impact.

Our daughter really likes the car, and can sleep in it at will.

This thread is interesting, because I purchased my Evo just because I needed a 4-door car since I was expecting another child. I had a GST, so I wanted to keep boost, but needed room! I have a 7yr old son who's just in love with the car...and loves the boost I might add!
My daughter was just born about a month ago (April 13), and thus far, there are no issues what so ever! Granted, I'm not heavily modded, however even if it was, it wouldn't be driven all wild with her in it anyway.

Bottom line, if you drive safely and have the baby secured in a proper car seat, they're fine! Have the baby pimpin' in a sweet ride!

my kids prefer riding in the evo vs. the odysee van. 4yr & 2yr olds.

just avoid pot holes etc, when you can, basic stuff.

I would recomend the 1st ride home from the hospital in a smoother riding vehicle than the evo. But after a few months, i wouldnt give it a second thought.

From what I have heard, the Evo has a 2 star crash rating vs. the STi's 5 star. If thats true, I'd be scared to drive my kids around in it daily. Anything can happen on the road.

NHTSA rates the "Lancer" at 5 stars frontal, but 2 for side impact-front seat and 4 for side impact rear seat.

Anything without Side Airbags is going to perform like crap in these tests.

well...

we have both and evo and sti...

my son has ridden in both since he was a newborn...

we recently purchased a recaro baby seat (with matching black and blue inserts)... best investment ive made so far.

the tether clips are push button, so no smashing your fingers to get them in and out. and it has serious head support for side impact etc.... i currently put him in the middle of the backseat, forward facing since he is 16 months or so.... he loves the seat.

I think its really important as it is supposed to be the safest seat made. Also, both cars are lowered, 19's, gt35Rs... and was never an issue.

in fact, he points his way over to the sti and evo instead of moms tribeca lol

cheers

My son has been enjoying the EVO for his whole existence (15+ months). My TR-303 package riding on stock suspension has not been an issue. In fact, I'm convinced the exhuast tone soothes him as he's always been quite content in the back and will often fall asleep within minutes of leaving the house (usually before I make it out of the neighborhood).

I'll give another thumbs up to the Recaro Sport. I must say I originally bought it because it matched the interior of my '03. However, I'm seriously considering another for my wife's car. The Recaro does an amazing job of cradling my son's body while still giving him the freedom to move. I especially like the bolsters around his head as they keep it from flopping around when he sleeps.
